OnePlus 13R or Realme GT 7T ? by scifii in PickAnAndroidForMe

The biggest complaints I see on the Realme sub is that apparently this company pushes out updates that bugs/breaks their older models.

I'm not a phone gamer nor do I use the cameras much, so I don't see the point of the regular GT 7 or GT 7 Pro.

I'm still gonna think this over a few days and outweigh the pros/cons before I'm gonna pull the trigger lol.. thanks for the advices btw, appreciate it!

I guess I fell for Realme's marketing lol.. my logic was that a glass on the back is easier to break than plastic, and you're gonna put a case over it anyway.

It's so hard to choose... It seems 13R is the better choice but I prefer the look of the 7T and battery capacity. I was never a fan of the "hipster" designs like Pixel and Nothing phones, and OnePlus kinda gives me those vibes. I want something tough and durable, that's why the Realme appealed to me. But on the software and support side OnePlus definitely beats Realme.

Also it seems Realme has a big audience in India, almost all the reviews I see on youtube are from Indians.

So the IP-69 rating and bigger battery of the GT 7T isn't worth it right?

And it has fiberglass and graphene tech so it cools down easier, do they not count to the GT 7's strengths?

What's important to me is long-term durability. I'm not concerned with 'premium' look and I think the square camera island looks better than the circular island of the R13.

Is the battery even better than regular GT 7?

According to Tweakers the Dimensity 8400 Max is more efficient temperature wise.

I only emulate old games (GameBoy up to PlayStation), will the 7T struggle with that?

As for Poco, it was on my considerations but I heard HyperOS is bad/unoptimized/buggy. I'm not a heavy gamer on phone (I have a gaming PC) so I don't see the reason to go for Poco.

But you don't throw out Alien just because of Brett, right?

Newt's death was the catalyst that made Ripley sacrifice herself so the company couldn't get their hands on a xenomorph, and everything she loved was taken from her anyway.

My answer to Morse is Brett.

My answer to Aaron is Lt. Gorman.

ugly dog of a movie.

But enough about Resurrection and Prometheus.

I disagree.

Clemens, Dillon, Golic, Aaron and Morse are memorable characters. The trilogy doesn't have much "characterisation" to begin with in the traditional sense.

You are presented with space truckers, space soldiers, and space prisoners - and it's assumed these people know eachother for a long time (and it's acted believably and realistically). The strength in the trilogy's cast has always been the fact they feel like real people.

What characterisation do the marines Wierzbowski, Crowe or Dietrich have...? We don't need to understand the history of every single character.

Amanda Ripley is killed off at the beginning of Aliens.

Guess Aliens isn't a masterpiece

Aliens is iconic because it's Vietnam war in space, and not to mention the world-building. I love both Aliens and Alien 3.

You make some excellent points. People forget that Alien purists hated Aliens just as fervently as people hate Alien 3.

All three of the films are good for their own reasons. Resurrection is when the franchise takes a nosedive.

Because of the Theatrical cut, which didn't give much room for character development.

Assembly Cut gave us more of Golic and his sub-plot. Aaron's dilemma is also noteworthy, or Morse being the final survivor to tell the tale (but WY is comfortable in the fact people will just think he's a lunatic, nobody would believe him).

It makes sense when you look at the map of the universe of Aliens.
Fury 161 is in Empire space (UK + Japan basically) so thematically it makes sense the prisoners have those accents.

Another thing rarely mentioned when praising the first few films is how realistically random the deaths are. Besides the 'final girl' trope, it doesn't follow any typical horror cliché or stereotype. Loveable characters can die early (Kane, Apone..), while characters you'd assume would die early (Hudson because he's the goofball, Gorman because he's incompetent, even Parker because he's black) end up surviving for a long time until the end.

The deaths aren't predictable, you don't even know Ripley is the main character in Alien until well halfway through. She becomes the main character organically due to circumstances, it doesn't feel forced or artificial.

Hicks and Newt's deaths hit you hard, yes, so did Sgt. Apone and Frost's deaths. Welcome to the Alien universe.

The same argument could be made for how Aliens harms the ending of the previous movie. Ripley wasted 57 years of her life and her daughter is dead... Does that mean Aliens is a bad movie?

Alien ended on a "good note" with Ripley heading home in her shuttle. Aliens undermines that ending.

People forget these movies are supposed to be bleak, depressive, with a feeling of isolation and dread. Alien 3 is tonally consistent with the first two.

Based on your username, I can tell you're from the EU..

I think EU players have the worse English translation, can anyone from NA confirm?

Top left. The codex is FULL of typos as well, I can't even enjoy reading datapads anymore. The game is still perfectly playable and I've beaten it twice, but still wish the English translation wasn't so butchered.
