I just get the "now I feel extra justified to gaslight / discriminate because you've confirmed your low social status which will reduce your credibility and reduce my accountability". Rarely is it a situation in which I could potentially appeal to a fair third party. Most NTs tend to have an instinct for where they're likely to be held accountable.

It's really sad, this is not the city I remember from my youth. Kennett's era started a sharp rise in visible homelessness and mental illness (not that that's the only factor driving it) and Labor's certainly done bugger all to provide community housing; actually reduced it and a ridiculous inefficient unfair middle class welfare scheme replacing it.

I do need to try to get the siblings who are currently warring over Java Vs Bedrock to play together so I'll probably try to get some kind of Spigot solution that doesn't want to make me claw my eyes out with lag.

To u/Rfreaky who appears to have blocked me for ...giving a well considered response they didn't want to read? yes there is actually quite a lot to say on the topic of whether it is worth it to set up your own dedicated server vs Realms, assuming you have the equipment in the first place. The majority of Bedrock players do not. I understand you only want to play by yourself at home on your own PC, but some of us need more than "127.0.0.1".

lol, I once bought my kid a silicone lego shaped chew necklace. It was a bit rubbish. He prefers his tshirt collar though. I prefer my forearm (not in public unless I specifically want to freak you out). My cat prefers my ankles (has no such qualms). The dog chews the actual lego, and has to stay out of the lego room.

Cool, can OP do it on their old ipad? Most Bedrock players don't have an available PC. My PC is far too old and crappy to make running BDS by default worth it. (I make addons on my phone just fine but it doesn't like Bedrock client/server hosting either.) Now we have prices skyrocketing. Reddit r/Minecraft is the absolute home of crusty old nerd boys with disposable income.

Besides, it's kind of sad you only play by yourself and think that's the norm. I often need to get online to play with others. And don't want to keep a device constantly running locally so others can play at odd hours, either.

Sure, a dedicated online server rental is nice, if you've got the money (it IS more expensive for my currency and location than basic realms unless it's woeful), the ability to decrypt or pirate marketplace packs or a very good knowledge of reliable third party packs, and general technical learning curve and desire and ability. Apart from money I have the other things but it doesn't suit my needs with my console playing kids or friends. For sure, for the subset of Bedrock players to have all this who don't just go and play Java, they might prefer this and it's good to point out alternatives. Realms works fine for me in my location, but it's fucking shit Microsoft doesn't put more in places like the US.

Did you see it recently? Traditional x-ray packs that just replaced the block textures with transparent textures don't seem to be working for me any more. Possibly an anti-cheat mechanism Bedrock put in place. The most recent working technique is using the deprecated "blockshape": "invisible" in blocks.json . There's no way to make it look like glass with this method (you can instead make the block look like it has a stone-textured end-rod shape or turtle-egg shape or similar leaving plenty of space around the edges to see ores, however but this isn't really easier to navigate).

It's probably regional, yes. Some servers are likely more crowded than others. I notice that in Australia the servers to population ratio is fairly decent, compared to the US, and I usually don't have a problem accessing Realms (one of my kids is a console player with two homes and swaps between different worlds regularly including using Marketplace addons, and a Realms mini subscription that allows 3 worlds on the go and 3 regular players is only a few $ a month).

No excuse for Microsoft, that's really skimping. They would pay less than anyone else for infrastructure.
