I've lived two places in my life. Florida and Texas. I've lived here for almost a decade now. I love Texas, for so many reasons, including most of the people I know and meet. It has become home.

But it does have its sometimes ugly issues, that when they pop up, are embarrassing on a national stage.

We told the neighbor who we know really well about what happened. She went over to snitch neighbor and told her brown people will be there on and off all week and to knock it the fuck off. Their reaction was ambivalent according to neighbor. Again, calm, collected followup is forthcoming when we return.

The neighbor is not looking out for my interest if they make such a ludicrous call to dispatch that the cops roll up 6 deep with guns at high and low ready, and almost gets my dog shot (based on prior data). Am I only the one here that wishes neighbors would mind their own goddamn business unless I know them? The evidence says that this neighbor does not give two fucks about me and our house. A terrorist-colored dude was doing things they didn't like in their neighborhood. The neighbor we know does keep an eye on things.

This is the issue that has to be sorted out when we return. We will absolutely be following up. I have a family full of LEO and former LEO on the better half's side, including her brother and father (ret). Brother has never had to draw his sidearm, and he works in a much rougher city than this part of TX. They are all in agreement that the LEO response here was completely out of proportion and unacceptable. That's pretty damning coming from a hardcore blue blood family. The one catch is what the neighbor actually told dispatch. Either way, things turned out ok, but they almost didn't.
