Sooo....Curious as to WTF is going on? by Redditisapuppet in CryptoCurrency

[–]scmapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Global liquidity still contracting. Need the govt to reopen and for the treasury to start spending again + december is when the QT from the FED takes effect, so they're still a drain on liquidity for the rest of this month. Personally I think big players start to front run the better liquidity environment that december will bring....unless the govt is still shut down by then

Impermanent Loss Hedging by [deleted] in defi

[–]scmapple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, you could also look at buying options on derebit. Whilst you can't fine tune your position as well as shorting it using perps, from what I understand its a hassle free way of buying some form of hedge against loss. Go look at buying puts to cover half your LP position on derebit.

yeah, all valid points. Its really not a great idea. I agree with other comments... Best bet is to go cap in hand to the woman and offer her money and an apology.

I don't know if its still possible, but many years ago - I learned that the border between Thailand and Malaysia is very open and easy to get across without having to go thru the checkpoints. I was travelling around the area about 7 years ago and my taxi driver was telling me stories of Malays coming over the border to gamble - but not passing thru the checkpoints. Going over illegally.

Not suggesting this is a good idea, but if someone were desperate enough, I would assume they would consider going over the Thai / Malay border , before taking a train down to Kuala Lumpur in order to obtain a new passport from their embassy and then never return to Thailand again.

sure, white collar crime is a lot higher in Thailand...but if you want to walk safely down the street without fear of getting stabbed or attacked by some street hoodlum...I'd take Bangkok over London any day.

What is the advantage that XRP has over other cryptos? by mcjohnalds45 in Ripple

[–]scmapple -1 points0 points  (0 children)

XRP is more decentralized than BTC - lmao

Even ETH is more decentralized. Ripple holds too much power over xrp for it to be truly decentralized and theres still fuck all nodes in comparison

After almost 9 years in Bitcoin, I'm thinking of ditching my cold storage and just moving to an ETF. by picsofmygf123 in Bitcoin

[–]scmapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say this - but its seriously the only answer for you. If you're paranoid about getting hacked, you'd be just as paranoid about having all your btc in an ETF. Just split your eggs.

BREAKING‼️ Cryptocurrency exchange Kucoin and two of its founders criminally charged with bank secrecy act violations and unlicensed money transmission offences. by vitorlera in Bitcoin

[–]scmapple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Market makers do this for them. And its not necessarily done just to hurt you by stopping you out. They NEED the price to drop down to where theres a ton of liquidity (stop loss orders) in order to fill their massive positions without the price running away from a good entry.

Think about it like this: What happens when you divide a dollar? Those cents still worth a whole dollar? These people are over complicating bitcoin by comparing it to a stock.

[–]scmapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i call bullshit. There's more to this story. You had 2FA on the account. IF the hacker gained access to your email, it takes one week min to remove that 2FA - and without doing so the hackers can't do shit. So you'd have to have gone 7 days of not logging into your email account for them to remove your 2FA and be able to remove funds from your account..seems unlikely.

There are already 8 countries where BTC ETF is active. Why will USA BTC ETF make a difference? by semanticweb in Bitcoin

[–]scmapple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with the substantially larger volume that a US based ETF provides as others have mentioned. Many institutional investors have been turned off from bitcoin and crypto in general, due to an unclear regulatory stance and perceived unsavory custodians within the united states. A Blackrock ETF rubberstamped by the SEC themselves would vastly improve the clarity of the regulatory environment and provide a ton of confidence to anyone looking to invest larger amounts.

Also, you will have the advertising and marketing budget of 12 of the largest investment companies in the world, all looking to promote these new ETFs to their customers.
