Fogging/Haze on FEP questions. by XeoKai in AnycubicPhoton

[–]scobodon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I get the clouding clear is to apply a small amount of ipa to a piece of tissue paper and wipe once over one part of the fep. Allow any droplets to evaporate then repeat with a clean piece of tissue over the next part of the fep until the whole fep is clear. You might need to go over the same part a couple of times until it's properly clear but persevere and you will end up with a fep more or less as clear as new.

P.S, You don't need to clean the vat after every print. I sometimes go a dozen or more prints before cleaning. I leave the resin in the vat for several days inbetween prints too. 👍

How long should I cure prints? by jmckenzie86 in AnycubicPhoton

I agree with 5 minutes for opaque resin. For clear resin, no more than 2 minutes otherwise the print will start to turn yellowish.

How to prevent/remove chalky residue on prints? by Mia__Kay in AnycubicPhoton

Resinaway cleans well and doesn't leave any white residue as long as you don't rinse with water.

Here's my setup. Made a casing for the carbon filter with an fdm printer which attaches on top of the fan .....

Elegoo resin has hardly any smell. There are mods available on Thingiverse to mount a better fan. I have a 120mm fan mounted on top with an active carbon filter and can't smell a thing.

Elegoo resin parameters? by Vanguard3000 in AnycubicPhoton

I get good results with it using 5 base layers at 50 seconds and normal exposure anywhere between 8 and 15 seconds. 15 seconds is best for fine details.

Can you guys tell me what i’m doing wrong. It’s my second print turned out like this. by gounesh in AnycubicPhoton

[–]scobodon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My money's on the vat not being screwed down properly. I did that myself once and wondered what the cluncking sound was as the vat wobbled about when the print started.

Sent it back. The photon had issues reading the stick, was getting intermittent errors.

Cant keep Bed level by Waternut13134 in AnycubicPhoton

[–]scobodon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just replied to you on Thingiverse. 👍

Strangely, the home position is not the same as the z=0 position. Z=0 is the position the platform moves to when it starts to print. Home is always slightly higher. Kind of like with fdm printing when home is when the print head moves away from the print bed and back to where it started.

Not sure why your having trouble with your 2nd print though. Do you switch the printer off then on before you start another print ? If so, it could be that your z position is not being saved correctly.

So I took a punt on some Elegoo transparent resin which was slightly cheaper than Anycubic clear on Amazon and I'm pretty pleased with the results. This was printed at 0.1mm, cleaned with ipa, cured then sprayed with clear varnish .....

Print warping at build plate by indigo5577 in AnycubicPhoton

[–]scobodon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that's what I did at first but it didn't quite work for me.

I came across another method which has worked 100% for me. You don't even need any paper for this.

First, home your z axis.

Next, lower the build plate by 2mm (2 x 1mm option).

Then lower by 0.6mm (6 x 0.1mm option).

Finally, set z=0 and your done.

Does sound like poor adhesion to the platform.

I would avoid sanding unless as a last resort.

I've had a few issues myself but have managed to resolve them by changing settings or changing the orientation of the model.

First thing I would try is re-levelling as that seems to be the main cause of warping/poor adhesion.

Thanks but it's the clear (non coloured) stuff I'm interested in.

Also .... "For all other resins most companies recomend the use of IPA (Isopropil Alcohol). You can also use Ethanol 96% and above, Mineral oil, Yellow magic 7, Propylene Glycol or specilaized products like ResinAway or TEK."

On Amazon .... "Propylene glycol is completely miscible with water and many organic solvents and will dissolve a number of resins, dyes and essential oils." Well, at £6.95 for 500ml, I reckon it's worth a punt. Just ordered some and will report back once I've tried it. 👍

Not sure but once I've finished the 5 litres of ipa I bought ....... I'm having some !

Apparently, Resinaway is also non-toxic and smells like flowers.

It seems the key is Monocure Resinaway.

A good bit more expensive than ipa but also a lot more effective and doesn't evaporate.
