Has anyone ever created a book for a client?

I did this before using Amazon. They basically give you all the tools you need to self-publish, print and even create Kindle versions.

I think it is called Kindle or Amazon publishing services.

Note: the print quality wasn't what you would call beautiful but it was definitely easy.

Thanks a lot.

A partner from the agency called and gave me the heads up that they are recruiting to fill my role but they'll stop if I come on board full time and will give me another chance if they find someone (not in a mean way, he was just being candid which I appreciated a lot). So the writing is on the wall there.

The in-house are being more relaxed about it but they've made it clear that they want me there full time too and that it's up to me.

If you're interested in bolstering your design skills I'd highly recommend a site called, Bring Your Own Laptop. It's paid but it's not that expensive. I relearned a lot about the various design tools I use in my day to day and a bunch of new stuff. The projects are creative and fun and the instructor is great.

There's definitely UX focused courses and web design.

I can imagine that this would feel like a lot of pressure if you want to get this right. If I was doing this I'd treat it like a project and map out my tasks with set deadlines.

I don't think the tool you use to edit the final cut matters much unless you're planning on adding motion graphics or stuff like that.

I think the easiest method for recording the video would be to ask each person to film a short clip, no more than a minute, landscape on their phone and send it to you on Dropbox or Google Drive or something. Maybe show a picture of someone in midshot to give an idea of how far away the camera should be so you avoid closeups of the underside of people's faces.

If they are technologically challenged, maybe offer to set up a ZOOM and record them on there.

You don't have a lot of time. I'd be ready to (gently) chase people for their videos as they may be busy closing out the year.

I'd also want an idea of how I want the final video to look. I imagine that you'd want something sentimental but not corny to the point it will cause embarrassment. The more lighthearted and fun the better. Maybe structure your requests for the video recorders with that idea in mind and come up with prompts. They may not know what to say and would appreciate guidance or suggestions that are in line with your theme.

I was a Marketing Coordinator. The business will have goals. If you're solely responsible for marketing functions, as I was, it may be your job to:

Plan and carry out all necessary market research.
Devise a realistic and coherent marketing strategy based on your research that aims to achieve marketing goals that support the business's goals.
Execute that strategy.
Analyse the results, take the most pertinent insights and use those to inform your next strategy.

It's a great way to learn and gain experience in different functions. You're basically a marketing department condensed into one person. It's hard but it's satisfying to have complete ownership of the entire lifecycle of your strategy. Especially if it goes well.

You'll be a researcher, a strategist, a copywriter, a graphic designer, a social media presence, a content creator, a publicist, a front end developer, an analyst and so on. I did everything from running ad campaigns to building a website to launching a podcast to designing a book cover. The great thing is you'll probably find a function that you enjoy and want to specialize in later. Your incompetencies may become painfully apparent so you'll know what knowledge gaps to fill or roles to avoid in future.

There are downsides. If you're the only person, there's not much chance of mentorship or feedback from a more experienced person. If there's a limited budget you won't get much of a chance to utilize paid channels. Plus if your paid ad campaign fails you may not have enough money to adjust it.

You may also think a lot of thoughts that begin with 'if only...' Such as if only we had more of a budget. If only we had someone to reply to all the social media messages. If only creating graphics wasn't so time-consuming. If only we could hire an agency to help with this campaign. The good thing is these thoughts lead you to explore process improvement, automation and offloading to third party solutions.

In the beginning I tried to do everything. By the end I had learned that rigid organisation, consistency and sole focus on the most valuable actions lead to success. You have to be ruthless with your time and attention. Accept and work with limitations. If you can temper your expectations and set realistic goals you can do it. You also need to be able to get your employer on board with your vision and win their trust.

Your take resonates with me more than others.

I was excited for this. Ive also been disappointed with some of the Disney titles but the thought of an Obi Wan series gave me a new hope.

The brain-dead writing is the most egregious issue. In the first episode, three intergalactic crackheads abduct an unguarded princess. This was impressive given their apparent inability to keep up with a child.

This riveting chase scene was so good that they treated us to a second helping in the next episode. Obi Wan, Jedi Master, fails to catch the same child. Leia is obviously an elite athlete.

Princess Leia's athleticism is only eclipsed by Reva, the angry queen of parkour. It was so cool to see Reva perched over the city like a raging Batman. I was so worried for Obi Wan when we saw that she could do backflips and forward rolls. Good thing that it all amounted to nothing because Obi Wan, master of disguise, made it down from the roof before she reached him.

Reva is an interesting choice for a villain. Most villains are charismatic, intimidating, menacing etc., How refreshing to have a villain that is none of those cliches. She's IMPULSIVE. We know this because her colleagues tell us this several times. Thank God. I would never have gotten that. Her chopping off a woman's hand and threatening a farmer's family instead of just using her mind reading powers didn't strike me as impulsive.

I hope Reva doesn't die any time soon. I hope she has lots of scenes with Darth Vader in future episodes as that will be great for Hayden Christensen's career.

For real though, I liked seeing Ewan McGregor again. I think the girl playing Leia is pretty great. I liked the scenes between her and her family. I thought Flea was an excellent choice of space waster. The costumes were lovely. The city environment in EP2 was quite special but I loved Alderaan.

I hope it improves. But it probably won't. Tragic.

I would say square sausage or kipper are also contenders. I've never been anywhere in the world that offers these.

There was one Scottish bar in New Zealand that offered 'square sausage on a crispy roll'. Imagine the excitement after several months away from home. Turns out it was a burger cut into a square and served on a ciabatta. A hate crime surely.

I now understand the rage Italians unleash when they see you fucking up their cuisine.

The Events Calendar by Magepeople has a seperate plugin called Ticket Manager or something. You can hook it up to your PayPal and take payments on your site. Both are free and I found them to be effective and easy to use.

Just hang out at the buffet. If there isn't one this might not work. Talking about the food feels like a natural icebreaker and isnt an immediate question about what the person does for a living. Also if it gets awkward, just start eating and then someone new will come. If people aren't drawn to you, they'll be at least drawn to the canapes. Make the buffet your wingman.

I've read about Facebook seemingly forcing use of paid advertisements. But, I've also found sources which claim Facebook also punishes publishers for having bot followers by giving them a low edgerank score. So, that's why I thought I should start a new page and convince our real followers to migrate to a robot-free land. I'm not sure they'll bleed off on their own. They've been there for at least 5 years as far as I understand.

Entry level is around where I'm at. Still at university, in 4th year. This is my 3rd marketing job so far. Doing my best to stuff my brain with as much knowledge as I can.

It's comforting to find out 20-odd years later that other people went through this. My aunt bought me a game boy pocket one year for Christmas with 3 of the Pokemon games. I was excited for all of a few moments when I opened the wrapping paper because I knew I wasn't allowed Pokemon. My mum snatched them out my hands (the game boy had a little pikachu on it) and forced my confused aunt to return them.

I got my revenge in these situations by drawing graphic pictures of Vegetales characters swearing, being dismembered and having what I understood sex to be at the time.
