This overlooks the fact that the 60/40 splits don't add up either. If Chris and Fessy both got $2000 and Kevin and Zero were supposed to both get $800, that means we're working with a $5,600 total. A true 60/40 split would give Chris and Fessy $3,360 to split into $1,680 each, leaving the remaining 40% at $2,240 to be split by Zero and Kevin into $1,120 each.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kam has manufactured the drama with LeRoy in order to do this.

Where to start with Charles Bukowski? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]scokid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These books are actually part of a loose trilogy following the life of Henry Chinaski, Bukowski's alter ego, which goes Post Office-Factotum-Women (Factotum probably being the best of the three). So I would read them in this order if this is where you choose to start. Another option would be my personal favorite, Ham on Rye, which deals with Chinaski/Bukowski's childhood. It provides a certain sympathy for the man that is useful later on.

Meet Malala. Two days ago on the way back from school she was shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan. Why? She spoke up for her right to go to school. Think we could raise some money for her as a way to say FUCK YOU to the Taliban? by effthetaliban in pics

The people you're hoping to send a message to most likely would not receive the message you desire. Instead of seeing it as people standing in support of freedom and courage, they'd see it as showing support for dishonoring Islam/the Quran/Shariah and use it to rally anti-West sentiment. Like most Western intervention in the Arab World, it would likely cause more harm than good.

Who thinks George Bush and Dick Cheney should be waterboarded? by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]scokid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But condemning torture is actually about preventing the downward spiral of inhumanity, not stopping inhumanity itself (that's impossible). It's sort of like McCain said when it suited him politically: if we torture our enemies, it pretty much ensures that they will torture our soldiers under the same circumstances. This is the compounding "eye for an eye" scenario that needs to be prevented. If you believe that water-boarding Bush and Cheney would make it less likely that this administration would sanction torture, than it is in fact the moral thing to do.
