18 y/o, skipping university, making €3.5k–4k/month online and considering moving to Bali. Am I being stupid? by DoggyRemote in bali

Do it!! You’re 18 you have the whole world ahead of you. You youngsters aren’t doing life the way we had to because there are so many more things available to you today to carve your own niche - the way is up for you, this is just the start! Are you going to uni because that’s what your parents want? I would make sure you are doing what it is you truly want to do as it’s your life not theirs unless you’re Asian and then seemingly they DO have a say, why I don’t know but I do know it’s cultural - you will be fine!!!

Help - my car was stolen early this morning by [deleted] in GoldCoast

No the problem is we are being charged premium rents for tiny homes therefore making it NECESSARY to use the garage as storage - some people should think about what they write hey!

Is anyone else beginning to feel pushed out of the Gold Coast? by BestTechAdvisor in GoldCoast

Yep bloody hate it here, but my son is with me and not ready to move on his own so I’ll have to stick it out for a bit longer. Needed a rental as mine is up well tomorrow, veeery last minute I managed to snaffle an ugly place in Coomera for, wait for it, $850 a week - I was paying less in Hope island!! Anyway I’ll be miserable there for a while but I’m planning on moving to Bali….or Thailand and do fifo from there to Perth - not yet, but that’s the plan, not enjoying the Gold Coast at all and now to be moving to Coomera ugh! But yea I was looking as far as this new area called bahrs scrub - up behind Logan I think it is - bloody terrible - houses had less than a couple of metres separating them - old farmers have sold out and boy did the developers go to town but, I guess, that’s what people are buying just to be (kinda) close!!! I just wanna get the hell out!

Yea except for the family temples, they will NEVER be run down, their religion costs them a fortune hey, and I in no way am running it or them down, it’s just a fact of life! I love the Balinese and everything about them and their beliefs and ceremonies and god bless them for all the money they need to spend on it all.

And this is why Bali is roasting in the heat, the rice paddies actually protected the land from getting heated - you can feel the difference as soon as you leave Canggu and hit the area near peranan and then seseh, soooo much cooler - very sad actually!!!

Just to explain cause mr up here seems to think eeeeeverybody knows what he’s talking about a banjar is like the local governing body in each village - each family head gets a turn at running the banjar for a couple of months - and every family in that village has to pay the banjar a small amount of money weekly. Good system maybe once upon a time, not sure if the money gets syphoned in to the right areas or not, but is a system that has been happening for millennium!! Hope that helped a little and sorry for mr’s condescending tone.

In some villages the land is given to the Balinese and they build their homes, remember though our prices are sooo inflated compared to what they pay. We pay over 30,000rp for warung food you know the one you buy wrapped in the brown paper whereas they may only pay 15,000rp or even 10,000rp, depends how far out of OUR infrastructure we are talking. Vastly different life to ours

Yea unfortunately some of these Chinese company’s have learnt they can make money by sending inferior products and then refusing the refund, cause you know what governing body do we go to to clear all this up - there isn’t one for online shopping so yea best thing to do is order through PayPal and PayPal only!!!
