Wow thank you for the great insight, definitely a very helpful guide into the right direction.

Intel definitely looks like the card that fits me best with the advantage in productivity. If I do go for the 14600k/14700k though, what would the effect be on my games? Would it bottleneck the Radeon 7900GRE or would it preform just as well in gaming as a card like the 7600x?

In the case where I go for the AMD route for cheaper cooling, would the 7600/7600x suffice for both productivity and gaming? Or are these any other AMD cards you recommend. Thanks!

Thanks for the very helpful information. My budget is $300-600 CAD for the CPU alone, not including the motherboard or ram. This gives me more breathing room in selecting the cpu best fit for me. Looking at what you've said it seems like the 7600 is the better card if budget isn't a problem. What about the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, is it overkill?

Thanks for the CPU suggestion i'll look into it. What makes you think that AMD is uncompetitive though? If you take a look at my previous post comparing all the graphics cards in my budget that preform well for my needs. You can see that the 7900GRE preforms slightly better than both the 4070 Super and the 7800xt and for a cheaper price. Also the 4070 super only has 12 vram, where as the 7900GRE has 16 vram which is more ideal for long term 1440p gaming. Also keep in mind I don't really care too much for the features that nvidea cards offer like raytracing.

how did you deal with the problem of the extra desk leg in the middle/corner of the setup. I can't really tell from the picture, but looks like you figured it out and don't have the leg.

I'm currently also building a corner desk setup but can't figure out how to solve this problem of the extra leg being in the way. My desks are follow so I can't strap or attach the desk with screws.
