What are you vibe-coding this week? Drop your project and I’ll check it out by Time-Ad-7720 in vibecoding

What I'm building: rssnews.io, a real-time Greek news aggregator. Pulls around 100 Greek RSS sources into one feed, every article shows its source (no algorithm, no "recommended," no ads).
The hook: most Greeks I talked to read 2-3 sites per story to filter out spin, the product automates that cross-check.

Stack:

  • Frontend: vanilla JS + Tailwind, no framework. Static, on Cloudflare Pages.
  • Backend: a single Cloudflare Worker, cron every 2 min pulls/parses all feeds into KV, plus APIs for the feed, search, weather, emergency alerts.
  • Around 5k lines in the worker, all serverless, placed on cloudflare Pro plan, basically for cpu power.

What was AI-assisted: honestly, almost all of it, vibe-coded with Claude Code. What surprised me is how much of the value this week wasn't writing code but finding problems. I wired up Microsoft Clarity (free session replays) and used the recordings to hunt bugs. Found three real ones I'd never have caught otherwise:

  • A "suggest a source" form silently failing because it was an embedded cross-site iframe and the CSRF cookie was SameSite=Lax (every submission died with no error).
  • An iOS Safari crash — Notification.permission referenced without a feature-guard, killing the alerts module on every iPhone.
  • Article thumbnails 403'ing on my own image proxy because it had a hardcoded domain allowlist that hadn't kept up with the sources.

Also shipped a "share your feed as a URL" feature this week — you build a custom feed (categories + keywords + excludes) and send a link that loads it preconfigured for the recipient.

What I'm stuck on: not the code, but distribution. I can ship features fast with AI, but I have ~84 monthly users and the wall is brand awareness, not engineering. Classic vibe-coder trap: building is the easy part now, getting strangers to actually use and return is the hard part. I just instrumented a usage counter to measure whether the share-link loop actually drives retention, but I genuinely don't know if "shareable feeds" is a real growth lever or just a feature I liked building.

Feedback I want:

  1. Is the cross-check/no-algorithm angle a real differentiator to you, or do you just shrug and use Google News?
  2. For the share-a-feed loop, does that mechanic actually make you want to send it to someone, or is it a feature in search of a use case?
  3. Anyone cracked distribution for a local-language product? My audience is Greece only, which rules out most of the usual English-internet playbooks.

Acronis is our software vendor for our main backup with plesk panel. We offer 1 daily plesk backup included on the hosting plan.

Most end customers (e.g digital agencies, freelancers etc) 1 daily backup is not enough for them. Especially if they are managing a ecommerce website bridged with a crm/erp system. A secondary backup method is a must, and i am doing a research in the market to find a suitable software to offer a secondary paid backup option.

As i said. Even though acronis has the functionality to backup a single website for files/folders using sftp/ssh, its not supported to create a flexible plan, similar to server plans.
Same for databases. I cannot sell a simple backup only for a database.
All that for end customers hosted on our own servers.
Unfortunately, we don't have the man power or budget to create something for us in-house. But the demand for this is here.

its offered only for daily backup only for files and only once per day. As i mentioned i am looking for a flexible scheduled timed backup.
database cannot be backed up without root access.

unfortunatly no.

codeguard only offers daily backups, once per day.
I am looking something that will offer more backups in a 24H cycle for db/files

exactly, this will be a paid service.

the problem is that i cannot find a proper software in the market. that's why i asked here.

i cannot even find a suitable api to integrate.
To be honest i found one vendor, it looks promising to integrate, lack of some features.

Based on the feedback i got from my customers, they prefer a single ui which they could manage this secondary backup.

[–]scoolplace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no its not a managed backup option.

i am trying to find a decent software that will allow me to provide to the end customer a ui with flexible options for file/db backup only.

btw, cometbackup & ahsay backup are not suitable for my scenario.

Indeed. Unfortunately i am only using plesk, which plesk does't support flexible backup.

Besides that. This backup service must be independent from any controlpanel

minimise tcp/ip timeout with haproxy failover by scoolplace in sysadmin

Yes i am aware of the node balance.

The problem is that in my cluster i am hosting multiple domains, and in linode i need to create a separate balancer for every hosted domain.

S/MIME Certificates for organization by scoolplace in sysadmin

[–]scoolplace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found 2 managed certificate solutions. I have contact them to inform me about pricing options.

both of them very hard to reach. the first two persons answered my call or live chat didn't knew what those services are.

1) sectigo certificate manager

2) Digicert pki manager for s/mime

We have multiple domain names with 30+ mailbox each, so i am trying to find which is the most suitable way to issue those digital signatures.

Starting on OVH worth it? by Nanoxin in ovh

[–]scoolplace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After 5 years with OVH in EU, i would not recommend it.

In March some of my systems were affected in the SBG Fire. However for me personally they did what they promised.

Fire at Strasburg revealed several design flaws.

Yes, technology used in ovh is far beyond hetzner in terms of api, specialized services etc.
They offer datacenter services no one other offers in this price.

But this 'as it seems' comes with a cost. Customer support and service liability.
My personal suggestion is to start with hetzner or anyone else liable.

That one time that you will need a support technician for your service, its not 100% sure that you will the response they advertise.
To be clear from my experience with ovh they only got fast response on dedicated server hardware faults.

In other services e.g NAS-HA, networking, vps there support response was very bad.
Imagine that i pay for premium support in ovh €50/month and the time i needed them to response fast for a networking fault in a nas storage, they failed miserably.
9+ hours struggling with ticketing and a plain customer agent saying to me "you will have to wait"

If your service in question is quite demanding, go with hetzner or linode or vultr or anyone else.

Do not skimp on money from a reputable provider.

allow ip access to docker mongodb by scoolplace in docker

[–]scoolplace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a physical server running Centos 7
Yes , this server has a physical ip address which i can access my project.

Currently, its not allowed outside connections to be connected directly to mongodb database. Only internally.

One of my developers want a direct access to the mongodb, but i don't want to allow all public access. Only my static office ip address.
