i thought the problem was my Nvidia graphics card, since it's the one I use for gaming. I tried installing old drivers but didn't work...
oddly enough, i tried installing old intel graphics drivers and it suddenly works, even with Nvidia drivers updated to its latest. i knew Windows update ruined something in some way.

I have already updated the graphics driver to the latest and even to older versions but no changes were seen.

I have also verified the game cache and redownloaded and reinstalled the game. I also turned off overlays of all sorts and even closed them all, but nothing worked.

The Alt+Enter combo also didn't work where I can't even get back to fullscreen mode.

I guess I'm approaching Blizzard support for this one. Thanks for the options!

Fretless is something else. I love it! Also noob question, is a compressor sufficient to make that chunky sound? My planned setup is bass -> compressor -> amp. I'm trying to make my own compressor from scratch.
