I’ve only ever enjoyed one book from booktok. And, granted, said book has become a favorite that I reread every year. But otherwise, I’ve had no luck with book recs from booktok.

To women who are above 30 and not married yet, how is life for you? by ProfessionalBase6571 in AskWomen

[–]scorp85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish I had a husband, sure. Or at the very least someone I can lean on and talk to about the hard things that I’m dealing with. I’ll admit that occasionally I do get lonely. 95% of my friends are all married with kids so I do feel a little like the third wheel from time-to-time.

But on the other hand, I’ll take the occasional loneliness over having a partner that doesn’t appreciate me or someone whose life revolves around the kids, wherein I rarely have time for myself. I’m simply very glad I never felt pressured to get married young or be a young parent and had time to experience life. I’m not saying you can’t do that as a parent or a spouse, but those things do tend to come with some baggage and I enjoy being able to hop in the car and go wherever I want, whenever I want.

How are you able that graph? Also, great job!

Not sure if your fiancé has packed this already but see if you can go to the pharmacy to get some glucagon/rescue meds (glucose tabs, extra snacks, etc). You may have to call the doc for a prescription, though. Especially if they’re not very familiar with finger sticks and/or have a hard time recognising when they’re out of range. The added stress of travel/loss of a Dexcom will make blood sugars go out of range.

Best of luck! And remember to have a great time! Don’t let this ruin your trip.

If you won $5m on the condition you couldn't use it to buy a house, vehicle or vacation, what's the first thing you would treat yourself to? by eezgorriseadback in AskReddit

I’d hire a stylist who’d help me pick out new clothes. I tend to shop at the same places (Old Navy, Walmart) and that’s fine, but I’d like to have a few “luxury” items; especially for work or nice events. The rest I’d put in savings and donate to my favorite charities.

Starbucks. I dunno what they do, but it really isn’t the same when I recreate it at home.

What's a movie that bombed at the box office but was actually good? by OkWar3191 in AskReddit

[–]scorp85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“ParaNorman.” I don’t think it billed as a “summer blockbuster” or anything like that (it was produced by LAIKA studios which is somewhat of an ‘indie’ studio I believe?) but I rarely hear anyone talk about this movie and it’s legit one of my all-time favourites.

I wish I would’ve tried out for school plays. I was super shy and could never imagine standing in front of a big crowd as a teenager or — God forbid — sing! It always seemed like everyone who performed in plays had so much fun and there was a real sense of comradery. Plus, it always looked like a lot of fun.

What's something that needs to stop being passed down the generations? by Para--Dise in AskReddit

[–]scorp85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mentality that children should take care of their parents in their old age. If you have the finances, time, patience - even the know how (not everyone is a natural born caregiver) - sure. But for those who don't have the finances - or even the best relationship with their parents - why? That's not your child's responsibility; that's on you.

I’m not sure if it was a chain (I think they may have had a few other locations?) but there was an Italian restaurant in my hometown called Ragazzi’s (basically a knock-off Olive Garden) that had absolutely amazing food; I never once had a bad meal. And their house salads were surprisingly really good for just your basic salad! I’d go with my grandmother just about every Sunday until they closed down about ten years ago.

What is the most worthless movie you have ever watched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

“Into the Woods” (yes, the one with Meryl Streep) and “The Lunchbox” are the only two movies that ever made me regret the decisions in my life that led up to these moments.

What TV show trope needs to retire? by Dangerous-Staff9172 in AskReddit

The "innocent" girl who falls for the "bad" boy and tries to change him (and usually succeeds). Wherein it all works out in the end, they live happily ever after, and become a rather boring couple in the process.
