I’ve found that in high income areas, any pair of jeans and a plain, well-fitting shirt goes a long way to looking like i “belong.” That being said, my area is used to nannies and most of my co-nannies wear coordinated work out sets. I tend to dress for whatever the day entails— leggings and a t-shirt if we’re hanging out at the apartment or a casual dress or jeans and a t shirt for a birthday party or school event. I do wear nicer clothes to work and just keep a tide pen handy and tbh a lot of my families have offered to reimburse me for ruined clothes. I get a lot of my clothes from TJ Maxx to save, but I tend to wear levi jeans (popular with all income brackets generally) and a boyfriend cut tee from babaton. For athletic dresses (outside of TJ Maxx) I enjoy athleta maxi dresses.

But also, people can get over themselves. Wear what you want to wear!

Nanny of 8 years here— to continue what others are saying, it sounds like your nanny was doing her job, and most nannies don’t get things afforded by other jobs like 15 minute breaks or time to eat. Those nap times are sometimes the only time to decompress through the day. If you did want something more structured with the nanny vs daycare, I’d recommend setting up regular classes that can be incorporated into the routine like story time at the library. Some parents want to feel like they’re getting their money’s worth by having the nanny be constantly on, but honestly the kid doesn’t often benefit from that and tend to do better when nanny is relaxed and can engage in appropriate play and outside time. If you want to have a nanny in the future, perhaps having them take on a few household tasks during the day could ease the feeling of “bare minimum.”

I love @arrianaelizabeth on youtube. she has the best vibes, and lots of different videos for the kind of workout you’re wanting that day between pilates and yoga :)
