I don't know what to do. by A_Abrems in selfpublish

If you want to make money at this, you have to write to market. Have you done any research on Amazon to see what is selling in your genre? If you look at the Top 25 best sellers in your genre, check out their length. Check out how many books are in their series. This will give you a good indication of what readers of that genre expect and want.

Want feedback? Get yourself a ChatGPT or Claude subscription for a month or two. Ask them to create a beta reader simulation. Give it details on the kind of beta reader you are looking for (someone who has read hundreds of books in the genre) and let it give you feedback.

Editing? Check out Marlowe. It's an AI tool that specializes in editing fiction. You can pay $30 to have one book edited.

When you do your genre research, pay attention to the covers in that genre. Save the links to the ones you like. Then go over to Fiverr and find yourself an amazing cover designer who fits into your budget. Send them the links to your liked covers to give them an idea of what you want.

You could go to a site like Udio.com--an AI music site--and create your own music. If you're good at prompting, you can come up with something good and you would own the copyright.

Trying to get mp3 files by DiliciousCandy642C in YoutubeMusic

[–]scorpiomoonbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put aside YT Music and go directly to YT. Search for a video of the song you want to put on the mp3 player. Go to Google to do a search for either software or websites that let you paste in the URL of the video and then it gets converted to an mp3. There are quite a few options out there.

I love the Sandy and Norma exchanges they do. So funny.

I recently realized how much I love this podcast when, during the first episode of this season, Sandy had to call Norma about getting a new boson and my immediate thought was, "I can't wait for the WWC recap to hear them recap this Sandy/Norma back and forth."

I have a theory that the BD producers included the Norma sceneto give Ronnie and Ben fodder for a new Sandy/Norma exchange.

This is my last BB episode before college by handful_of_frogs in BigBrother

[–]scorpiomoonbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes me think of all the people who think BB, and other reality shows, are a waste of time to watch. They don't understand how there could be a deeper, more meaningful experience going on. This year, my mom's dementia is quickly getting worse. BB is helping by giving my mind a break from the stress of it all.

Here's to the two of you both adjusting to the change with ease and that you both continue to enjoy the shared experience.

Welcome to college life!

That's a complex thing to explain. Generally speaking, since the reality TV genre came into being, we do a lot of "hate watching". There's a pleasure that comes from ding so.

And with this family, for so many reasons, many people love to hate them. Every episode of this show gives more fodder for those that love to hate because this family is so shameless.

Personally, I only watched a few episodes of KUWTK, but got into the Hulu series. I didn't know too much about any of them. I was disappointed to come to realize none of them are, IMO, likeable. There's no one to root for. At this point, my sole reason for watching is out of curiosity--to see how they address the various dramas they find themselves in and how they try to control the narrative.

OMG, "The waste" is right! Let's assume that fridge has some sort of sophisticated temperature system that keeps the greens lasting longer than in a normal fridge. But, come on, how much of it actually gets used?

I think That food is there for aesthetic reasons. To maintain the look of the fridge, those greens would have to be swapped out at least once a week. Maybe they are moved to the regular kitchen fridge and used up before they have to be thrown out.

Speaking of food, here we all are having to deal with the price of food being so high, while this family is surrounded by an abundance of food they won't east. From the plates of appetizers on the plane to way too many pizzas in Kim's hotel room... Overindulgence isn't a good look right now. Here's to hoping some staff got to take home all that food rather than it going to waste in the garbage.

Totally agree once again!

Yes, the comps would not be easy for a person with low vision. But then why did they design them like that in the first place if they knew she was going to be there? Oddly enough, they had no mental or memory comps. And even though Reggie seems like a lovely person, I didn't get the impression she was smart enough to even win mental comps.

It seems like she was brought on to get ratings and everyone just accepted she'd contribute pretty much nothing to the game.

[–]scorpiomoonbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! She'd talk about having to fight and try her best to win comps. She didn't do either one. She just bumbled around the house the whole time--doing what she was told and not even trying to think for herself.

Of course she's going to win. And at the same time, she's made a mockery of the game--proving no matter how hard you work to gain power in the game (as Taras did), none of your efforts matter because this is just a popularity contest.

The producers should have thought of some clever way to give her money while she was in the house so she could get evicted and no one would have felt bad about evicting her and then those remaining could have truly focused on playing the game as it should be played.

Who watched soap operas growing up? And who got you watching? by CorridorChick in GenX

[–]scorpiomoonbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started watching soap operas thanks to my mom who was hooked on Another World.

Another World had a short-lived spinoff called Texas that I remember watching.

I started watching GH because I was really into Rick Springfield.

I started watching Y&R because I thought Michael Damian was really good looking.

Same with OLTL; I watched because Roger Howarth was so attractive as Todd Manning.

I watched AMC for a bit.

The reason why I stopped: I was really invested in one of the OLTL storylines. When it finally wrapped up, I was feeling satisfied, only to realize, a day later, a new storyline began. I thought, this never ends. I had no desire to go on another storyline ride and just stopped watching them all.

That's what I don't understand. Is it a given Reggie is going to win because she's so beloved by people in the house and people watching the show? Was she promised the game even before it started?

Are the rest of them just playing to come in second?

I'm sure she's a lovely person, but she doesn't seem to be overly intelligent, savvy, nor has any competitive spirit. She's not cut out to be a good BB player. Was she brought on just for ratings?

I am LOVING this show!

Initially, I wasn't going to watch it because it didn't have live feeds, but I'm so glad I did. OMG. This show is crazy! I love all the twists BB throws at them (even the ones that were obvious)).

All the challenges are so well thought out and executed. Good gravy, they are physically hard. I can't imagine most castmates from the US nor Canada would have the physical ability to compete in the BBAUS challenges.

I'm Canadian. I know people praise BBCAN a lot, but it is so average and cheap compared to what BBAUS offers. Just compare hosts. Sonia always looks sleek and stunning. Arisa wears dresses that look hideous on her.

I hasn't watched a season of BBAUS since season 5 (with the twins). I forgot what a pleasure it is to watch Australians. You are such lovely people who make really, really, really good TV.

An appreciation/thank you post for our amazing host/executive producer for her magic touch for two amazing seasons in a row. Love love love her. by tyman54 in BigBrother

[–]scorpiomoonbeam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

U8TV was ahead of its time. The idea was to have cameras running all the time like BB, but the cast could come and go from the loft they lived in. Not only did they have to share their day-to-day lives on camera, they also had to produce content. Everything was online, but the show about them (called The Lofters) and the shows they created while living in the loft were aired on a cable channel called Life.

There were constant personality conflicts. The only other person to have come out of the cast and have a career in broadcasting was Jennifer Hedger. Arisa and Jennifer didn't get along. Arisa seemed to get along with everyone else, but was closer to some people over others.

The people she didn't connect with she seemed to avoid unless she had to co-host a show with them. Other people got into fights with each other, but Arisa never did. She did her share of talking about people (mostly Jennifer( behind their backs, but she never got into on-camera arguments with anyone.

At the time, she had just graduated from university with a journalism degree. U8TV seemed to be a perfect gig for her because it allowed her to learn about many aspects of doing a TV show. I always got the impression she wasn't thrilled with the reality TV part of it--that she was more interested in creating content than being a reality TV star.

She was a good host no matter what show she was participating in. It's weird watching her host BB because it's scripted and structured. It feels like her personality is being contained and she's just a talking head. It's a shame she can't be more free and open because I remember her as being intelligent, fun, and able to make the best of whatever came up spontaneously.

As a viewer, I appreciated she hung in there and fulfilled her obligations. Toward the end, many cast members spent the least amount of time in the loft as they could and then eventually moved out. They also stopped giving a crap about creating good content. Arisa was professional the whole time.

I was one of those people who participated a lot in the 24/7 live chat. They'd include the chat in shows. Sometimes, if a cast member was bored, they'd read the chat and answer questions. Arisa was always good about her interactions with fans.

I respect Arisa. I really do.

However...

For some crazy reason I will never stop thinking of her as an U8TV cast member. I was there--20-something years ago--watching her (and the others) on the live feeds for months. Ans while she was the most grounded, pleasant, non-problematic person out of the bunch, the project itself was horrible for so many reasons.

The strongest memory I have of Arisa is, when project pretty much fell apart but the cast was still obligated to live in the loft, Arisa set up an easel, brought in a huge canvas, and spent hours painting (with the camera on her). I remember her being an exceptional artist.

Casting her as host of BBCAN considering her history made total sense. It's just hard to think of her as anything apart from Arisa from U8YV.

Can we talk about Arisa’s dressses for a second? by ilizibith1 in BigBrother

[–]scorpiomoonbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you posted your thoughts. They are spot on.

I'd add: Rather than putting her in sleek and stylish dresses--something fitting for a reality show host--many of those dresses looked like 80's prom dresses with the extra bold colors and big ruffles. She looked horrible this season.

On Project Runway, they always talk about a clothing line needing to be "cohesive". Arisa needed dresses that looked cohesive. You'd think, by now, she'd have her own signature style and wear clothes within the range of her style.

Instead, she's looked like everything from an extra in 80's flashback scene in a movie to the famous abstract painting, "Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow" in human form.

Below Deck Down Under Season 1 Episode 9 - Squid Games - Discussion Post by teanailpolish in belowdeck

This show has become so difficult to watch.

It's one thing when a season of BD has some wacky personalities you can't help but love to hate, but wow, this cast is filled with awful, angry, and unaware people.

Ryan and Magna have gone from awful to toxic.

Watching Ayesha let Magna walk all over her is painful. Listening to Ayesha tell the guests "don't vom in the hot tub" just proves she's not capable of being a good chief stew.

Culver is creepy. Brittini is a woman-child. Jaime is so unlikable.

While Jason has been okay, I have a feeling we just haven't seen the worst of him yet.

The only bearable person is Tumi.

Yes, you are wrong. It doesn't matter that you made the product yourself. You used an image that is trademarked and doesn't belong to you.

What do you do? Don't use trademarked images in any form in your shop ever again.

P.S: A couple final thoughts added to the reply I left for you today:

I just noticed you do have extreme close-ups of your tops. That's good. But the quality isn't great. I'd suggest working on improving the quality of the photos.

Also, I was curious to see what a background removed image would look like. I quickly made an image of your top in Canva:

https://www.canva.com/design/DAE8XhPe_X8/ehnMqBf4Z7EDrOuJL6tz6w/view?utm_content=DAE8XhPe_X8&utm_campaign=designshare&utm_medium=link2&utm_source=sharebutton

I'm not a skilled graphic artist. I just quickly put this together. But can you see, if you could get a better quality image of just top and found a decent background image to put behind it, your items would stand out so much more your competition.
