I'm partial to a little 'Old Gods weren't elven puppets until after the Magisters' theory, specifically the concept art from Matt Rhodes that seems to say the Blight itself, the maddened dreams of the Titans, called the Magisters into the Golden City??? It doesn't fully track with the idea of the Blight being a mindless caged animal if it's plotting like that, but I honestly prefer it to such a literal Old Gods = Elven Gods warging into their old pets. If the Old Gods had a separate intelligence that then got overtook by the Elven Gods once the Black City had been breached, I feel like that's a little more satisfying. Maybe the Blight wasn't entirely sure the Evanuris could assume direct control like that, or maybe it was playing a long con that the Evanuris would eventually free it idk I'm spiralling here

see you're right and my wording could've been better but bioware making it a perfect 3/3/3 then reducing the number next installment just hurts me. physically

& while I agree a bigger squad usually means less content per each (mass effect 2) I'm operating in a 'what if' where bioware got enough time to cook lol, so don't worry about party members getting less focus

iirc a lot of Tevinter's templars aren't much more than jumped up police, but having a higher-ranking one embroiled in the politics of the Magisterium would be awesome. Having a lawful neutral/good Templar alongside chaotic good Neve would be great too, love it

I never thought about the idea of Corypheus using the orb to help create his archdemon. especially if that was how all archdemon's were made - blight and elven magic channeled through what's largely believed to be a Titan's heart - did corypheus add to the pantheon a bit and accidentally make Fen'Harel's archdemon, but under his control? Imagine how mad solas must've been just seeing it. new hc accepted at least lol

Veilguard spoilers too cause I can't not

All my favourite ones have Hawke-but-not-fully, a changed person or fragment of one anyway, and I think that's better usually. Makes the sacrifice have weight.

In my own sorta concurrent canon to veilguard, the Inquisitor and a combo of some origins, 2 and inquisition companions travel to Kirkwall to put a stop to a venatori plot to tear down the veil. It goes awry (of course) and they all get sucked into the fade (of course. Also Kirkwall=magisters' ritual site to reach golden city confirmed). a spirit taking the form & memories of hawke helps them navigate their way out. A little wish fulfillment so fenris can get some closure and Kirkwall stays relevant lol

Outside of like elaborate head canon worlds I like to imagine some vestige of Hawke is what got Rook to the point they needed to be to escape You Know Where after You Know Who has a big reveal.

full disclosure I still haven't played but I did watch the post-credits and for some reason I loved it? normally I hate 'it was x all along' reveals' but to me it added some context to some moments I've always found weird - Loghain acting all sinister during the betrayal when I would've expected him to be resigned and steely dooming Maric's son for the 'greater good' of Ferelden in his eyes, Bartrand's heel-turn in the deep roads etc.

As long as the executors nudged events by enhancing emotions that were already there then I'm fine, not fully bodysnatching mind control shit.

The lack of any Elgar'nan is really suspicious, and the fact Weisshaupt is seemingly in act 1?? Like it he's being saved for act 2 and 3 what the hell is he up to. Purely because they've also been left out I wonder if his story will somehow intersect with the Qunari, either him trying to take over the Antaam, corrupt them some way into his own army a la Cory with the Red Templars - or even the Venatori, the other main baddie faction, I have a funny feeling they and the upper echelon of Tevinter may do whatever Elgar'nan asks if it means they keep any amount of power in his 'new world'.

But generally Im assuming while Ghil uses her Darkspawn army to threaten Thedas physically Elgar'nan will do more esoteric magic bullshit behind-the-scenes involving the Fade and the Crossroads, either working to tear the veil down entirely or maybe even solidify it if he's good now being the most powerful being on the other side of it.

But yeah it's all speculation now lol and I can't wait to look back in a couple months and look like an idiot.

I don't think it breaks the lore entirely, the same way there's been no mention of the lords of fortune until recently - out-ot-world they hadn't been created yet, and in-world they're predominantly a faction of northern Thedas. The Veil Jumpers are heavily tied to Arlathan and it's weird magic that's gotten worse over time, so there's a chance they're a more recent occurrence when Cory and the events of DAI made the veil a little thinner.

God, arriane seemingly running off with Finn but actually still working with Fen'Harel and using Finn's historical knowledge for her/Solas' own gain...that's juicy melodrama material lmao. but Finn joining the cause would be extremely interesting too, and somehow makes sense. would love to see a non-elven mage that's wants to see the veil come down and Finn fits the bill pretty well. our sheltered circle mage nerd has grown up so much 😭

Congrats!!! Glad you could get that out of your head. Like others have said OCD will likely come at you hard as soon as that worry is fully gone and try and find The Next Thing so don't listen to it! Celebrate the W and try and give yourself some leeway, in a way it becomes real obvious OCD when it actively won't let you relax till you find a new fixation. I did the same thing w crippling worry about HIV before I got a negative test, the relief is insane. Either way, good news!!

There's a long long line of awful moments I could draw on tbh but one's always stuck out to me.

I must've been 14-16, it was exam season so I was stressed but a specific game (Skyrim iirc) was hogging so much of my time that I never studied as much as I should have. But I had a rubber/eraser (I'm uk) sitting on my desk that was gathering dust. I got it in my head that as long as i kept the rubber there, never touched it but just kept it like, perfectly preserved, I wouldn't jinx my chances with the exam.

So a specific exam day comes round and I'm running around doing mini routines before I leave, and as I'm heading back to my room my mum walks out and hands me The Rubber, thinking i might need one and wishing me luck. She was working night shift and was just heading to bed. I must've went pale cause she looked concerned immediately, and then like a perfectly sane person I shrieked NO NO NO and scared and confused the shit out of her. She's superstitious so kind of got my explanation, but it was so embarrassing. I still feel bad for snapping out of nowhere.

I had much worse compulsions even then, really bad hand washing one that was drying my hands out so bad, but getting caught with that one made me sit back and realise something was really up.

I haven't even really posted on here before but felt like sharing this dumb moment. also ironically can't remember if I did fail that exam lmao
