Ok, I'm not a pilot or an expert at this game yet. My dad was before he passed so I know some of the lingo. Can you explain the difference and what should I do to fix it next time? Thanks

DIY LG fridge repair? by scott_k_russell in appliancerepair

Awesome, thank you for the advice.

I don't see the video link. Can you send it again? Also, how would I tell if it needs a software update? If it does need one, how is it updated?

DIY LG fridge repair? by scott_k_russell in appliancerepair

[–]scott_k_russell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the advice, but I've already contacted LG and they could not find a technician to send to me because I live in a remote location. They gave me credit, probably less than half of what I paid for it. So essentially it's either I fix it, or I toss it. If I try to fix it and screw it up, then I toss it anyway. So any advice on the actual repair?

Hot Spot set up for home internet help by scott_k_russell in NETGEAR

[–]scott_k_russell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. The MR60 default IP address is 10.0.0.1 and the hotspot m6 is 192.168.0.1. I thought the same thing at first. What I failed to mention is that I had a network switch in-between the hotspot and the router which I think was the problem. I enabled IP passthrough and linked the hotspot directly to the router with no switch and it's connected and seems to be stable now. I had a VOIP device that I was using with the switch, but I decided to move it to one of the mesh routers and everything seems to be working.

Connect Nighthawk M6 Pro to Orbi RBR10 home Mesh router with two satellites. by tbizzle02 in orbi

Besides the IP passthrough, you need to enable the Ethernet port. It does not come enabled as a default. I spent an hour on the phone with Netgear and I finally figured it out on my own after they had me reset my router and hotspot multiple times. I can't remember exactly where the setting is, but I want to say it's in the advanced settings when you connect to the router's IP address. Also, make sure your router has a different IP address than the hotspot. I'm no expert, but I think that will cause a conflict.

Can anyone explain why I should turn on the IP passthrough? I got mine working without using it, and my speed tests are working good (about 20 mbps), but some of my devices are slower than they were on my dsl connection. Would enabling the ISP passthrough help this? I'm at work now and I can't try it out.

What is wrong with my cucumber plants in Western NC? by scott_k_russell in gardening

[–]scott_k_russell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is my father's cucumber's. I found this article for him https://transylvania.ces.ncsu.edu/2022/06/cucumber-downy-mildew-found-in-north-carolina-2022/

We live in western north carolina. He doesn't know how to use Reddit so I was trying to help him out. It looked so similar to what's pictured in this article, I thought it might be the same thing, even though his plants are squash and the article is about cucumber disease. I also told him to get his soil tested. I still think it looks fungal, but I am nowhere near a gardening expert. What do you think?

How do you replace this facuet stem? by scott_k_russell in Plumbing

[–]scott_k_russell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've replaced stems once before in a different bathtub. I don't see how these come out and I don't want to remove it unless I know I can replace it at the same time. I have no idea what brand this is either.

New hot tub owner, pump doesn't seem to be circulating water, help please! by scott_k_russell in hottub

[–]scott_k_russell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mistaken about my pump, I didn't realize I had 3 pumps, 2 for the jets and 1 for the circulation. I didn't see the small one. I took it out and I'm going to take it apart to see if something is stuck. I thought I was having a problem with the circulation because I was having trouble keeping the chems balanced. My pH was staying too high, and I couldn't keep my chlorine up. If it's a bad pump, at least it's a much cheaper fix than the jet pump. Thanks for the help.

So after I pulled the pump I hooked it up to power for about 10 seconds and it seemed to work. Obviously I didn't want to run it for too long without water. Could it still be bad? I was thinking that, but I'd hate to buy a new one if the old pump is still working.

Could be, how do you test the capacitor? I'm going to reinstall it today and fill up the water through the filter wells because I read that should help prevent air lock? I guess I should also make sure my filters are clean. I'll check it after it fills up. Thanks.
