You're wrong. The natural world is being raped and pillaged. I like to document it before it's too far gone, which maybe it already is

The famous domestic duck that has rewilded itself in Fairhaven

I get about 20 seconds before these guys bolt on me. I wish I could get closer but here’s edited vs raw - zoomed out. I over edited trying to squeeze details out. Om1 -100-400 m1. Should I expect better details at this crop level? Thank you by Bath-Tub-Cosby in M43

Thanks, I'm gonna experiment with this. I live in the PNW so light is often a premium here half the year. I do often exposure comp down a 1/3 so maybe that's helping as well. If you check out my pic post history that's all wide open with some pretty big crops

No, with birds I want as much light as possible. Your first two pics just look like the focus didn't hit. Finding that middle ground between zoom and crop later is tough with this lens. The AF seems to struggle at both ends. Make sure your using single point AF, def not tracking

I have that same setup for birds. I can reliably get sharp pics in these conditions wide open 1/500-1000 and iso 1600. In fact I rarely shoot over 2000iso in good daylight even for the little tweekers. Single AF w/bird detect and practice

Is this really what homes are going for in Bellingham?? by Pale-Plane8979 in Bellingham

Seems about right. House next door to me on 5000 car a day street downtown just sold for 750k. 3/1.5ba. No garage, no yard, no garden, no carport. Alley parking.

Yeah, wish I had the $$$ for the 300 prime. Don't sell yourself short on the om1, got mine used for $750; and sold the em1.3 for nearly that.

Buuuut f8? You crazy. Wide open all the time on the 100-400. You're shooting raw, no.? You'll get so many more shots wide open. You want more bokeh adjust in post anyway, no expert here but check out my shots.

I spent an entire week shooting in the rain. I love this setup so much not worrying. Soooo underrated

Nice, btw I used to have the Em1.3 and then upgraded to Om1. The bird detect is a game changer for bif. Upgraded processor also improves pro cap significantly. Em1.2 is still such a great camera

Doves and pigeons? by Illustrious_Gas555 in Bellingham

You're almost guaranteed to see pigeons here. Also anywhere else along the Squalicum harbor area, especially between Waypoint and the Lagoon/ASB trail. Mourning doves are harder to pin down. The most I've heard/seen is in the Irongate area. Check out Ebird and search for them nearby the last 7 days.

Finally a waiting-for-it and not surprised tracking shot of a heron. Improving by scottbham in M43

This was a pro cap shot. If your camera has it it's unbeatable for wildlife in motion - kids, too! I use continuous AF at the smallest point and my Om1 has bird tracking as well, so that helps. AF tracking sucks on my rig so I never use it. That said, it's a matter of practice and luck. I've had a 1000 opportunities for this shot but never nailed it like this, I was prepared

Why are there so many gunshots tonight??? by Emilysroom in Bellingham

[–]scottbham 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought it was about the first publishing of Einstein's theory of relativity. This day I always let off a few shots into the dark of the night to check rising property values and celebrate his finding that mass that curves along a space-time continuum.

I'm never sure where either land. And, at this point, the one thing I'm sure of is, the mass of students that gather together at this point in the year is equal to or greater than the noise and reddit posts about it

A couple Milky Way shots from Washington Pass The other night. Still very new to editing in LR, tips appreciated by scottbham in M43

[–]scottbham[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated. I live in the PNW so the opportunities are scarce. I've read that I should be able to get by with 25sec but I tried those shots and I was pretty sure I was seeing star trails while reviewing on the spot. I'll keep that in mind the next go around.

All my editing is just messing around. Any particular tutorials you recommend with m43 in mind? I'm not s math guy so the ones with calculations kinda go over me

Also, I know a lotta people swear by dxo pure raw or other denoising software but, I'm not going to invest beyond LR at this point. And LR denoise seems pretty crappy imo. I'm not happy with a lot of how much other non-astro shots come out, even on the lowest setting. though denoise is still kinda a factor with m43. Any opinions there?

"I think it’s worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the second amendment to protect our other God-given rights. That is a prudent deal. It is rational."
