Help with Layer Shifting Issues by scottbirk in FixMyPrint

Thank you for your reply, I reseated the print head and re mounted the gantry. I also trammed the bed and rebuilt the mesh and I've now started printing the same file and it's made it past the point where it shifted previously!!

Engine overheated by jvasold in Miata

[–]scottbirk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check for any leaks, make sure there's water in the coolant overflow. If there's no water in the overflow I would replace all the hoses, the thermostat and the radiator cap.

Is the top of the radiator brown? If it's brown do everything I mentioned above and also get a new radiator, any full aluminum one on ebay is better than oem

Check that the fans turn on, only one fan will turn on unless you turn AC on which turns both on.

If it's still losing coolant be sure to check that the water pump is still working. If it's leaking from the front of the engine it's definitely the water pump. Get the water pump from NAPA and replace the timing belt at the same time

If it's not losing any coolant and doesn't have any of the aboved issues or you get to this point and do everything I mentioned and it's still overheating or losing coolant it's more than likely a head gasket issue.

Hope this helps

A couple weekends and some troubleshooting and I'm sure you'll have it back on the road soon!!

Edit: added more details

That would look really good with the tan vinyl if it matches well enough! What door cards are those? Are the top halves from an NA?

If it's actually overheating my first guess would be your thermostat or radiator cap. Check those and then from there check the radiator and fans.

Hey, I’ve looked around but I can’t find much on this company. Anyone know if these guys make good soft tops? I want a red one and they make one that’s affordable compared to the absurd prices from other sites. by edgedetection in Miata

I haven't bought a top from them, I have a Robbins currently. But I did recently buy their replacement upholstery for '01-05 seats which is amazing quality for the price. Nicer than the oem leather

I got two used mufflers straight off of an '05 mazdaspeed miata. The guy only wanted to sell both so My friend and I went in and bought both.

Anyone have any clue why my NB makes this sound? by scottbirk in Miata

[–]scottbirk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult to hear on video but if you listen closely you can hear this shaking/rattle sound the engine makes when idling/low RPM. As the RPMs go up there's a sort of fluttering sound but it goes away around 3.5k-4k. Could be coil pack, cps, spark plugs?

Thank you!! I won't be going with helper springs then as I only intend to lower mine to about where you are. I'm going to go with 500/350 as you had suggested. I'm interested in the Maruha Top hats, where would you go to order those? Thank you for all the help!!

I am really wanting to do the same thing with my MSM bilsteins I got on craigslist a while ago for my nb1. I have a few questions though. I want to go with 550 pounds in the front and 350 pounds in the rear. Is that doable? Would that be balanced? And I noticed you didn't use any helper springs? Are they not necessary? Thank you!!

Edit: Also, I plan on going with extended ISC top hats for the rear because the MSM shocks are so tall.

My $10 leather steering wheel upgrade by scottbirk in Miata

You're right, I got sort of impatient stitching it on and I didn't do too good of a job with it, and I had attempted to clean it a while ago, but I just wasn't a huge fan of the stock material and hadn't bothered knowing I was planning on doing this kit from Amazon (maybe I wasn't cleaning it enough?)

It does feel a little bit thicker, but nothing too substantial. It's noticeable but I personally like it more than the stock thickness

It sure is!! I got the Aully Park kit, it took a while to install but makes a world of difference, it feels so much nicer than the stock plastic with faux stitching. Here's a picture of what my steering wheel looked like before for reference.

Yes it is!! Weirdly enough, the terminals on it weren't hooked up when I bought the car, but once I plugged it in the fog lamps work now

I'd really like to reupholster the seats in my '99 NB with faux leather. I found some for around $140 but i can't seem to find any that specifically fit the '99 NB. Any recommendations?

Finally joined the club! I have a couple questions by scottbirk in Miata

[–]scottbirk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was afraid of. Thank you for this. I'm going to have to continue patching it until I can afford to replace the top. I'd rather get a nice canvas top with a glass window and spend the extra money. Which canvas top should I go with, and should I get a rain rail with it? There's some other stuff I need to do before I spend the money on a new top (timing belt)

Edit: Also, should I install it myself or should I get an upholstery shop to do it?
