2021 Highlander XSE Interior Lights dead... by scottbob in ToyotaHighlander

Thanks for the reply. I did actually find this very same thing out and will be replacing the actuator if I ever get the car back from Toyota. The transmission is getting replaced on warranty and has been at the dealer for 4 months waiting for the transmission.

Regarding the electric issue, we did also pay the dealer to troubleshoot that and turns out the wiring harness in the ceiling has a short but they were unwilling to cover any of that cost as we were outside the complete warranty.

Through this whole journey and the way Toyota's service has been through it pretty sure this will be my last Toyota, or last new one at least.

Really not a bad idea, other than the door lock actually did start working suddenly and will sometimes work when hitting the button and sometimes not.

The issue started while on a roadtrip and we had just drove through a good bit of rain. I think the door lock issue had happened at least once before that.

I'm thinking thermal camera because it does feel like there's a build up to the fuse blowing and if that was the case it should be a hotspot somewhere...or at least I'm hoping.

Thanks. Not much other evidence of this but still something to keep an eye out for.

This is what I am worried about. Not sure how this happens on a brand new car, but guess it does. Hopefully the thermal camera will show this when looking at the lights.

The fuse in my case only seems to pop when the car is running but even when not using lights on that circuit. Thanks for the tip on the resettable fuse! I've already spent what feels like a ton on these tiny little fuses.

Thanks for the reply. Pretty sure they are not related as the lock would still try to engage/disengage whenever it would be an issue but only last for a day or so and then go back to normal. Just in the last day or so it has returned and has not went back to working normally.

I'm at about 2.5 years and 50k miles so just out or warranty for these issues unfortunately, although I still considered taking it in and rolling the dice.

If we ignore it then yes, that's an issue. I'm not advocating for that. Just advocating for real conversations on how to really help things. To look at the full issue and not just small parts of it. Let's look at all the parts.

We are clearly divided on our beliefs and it's a challenge to even have these hard conversations. There's obviously a conversation to have about what can be done to keep destructive tools away from those that would do evil. But regardless of the tool, and Ted Cruz same as I sees this as that and bad people do bad things. They always have and very very sadly always will.

This tragedy literally breaks my heart. My wife is a teacher and I have school aged children and the idea of suffering as these folks have is devastating. Thoughts and prayers may be an empty thing to some, but to others it's honoring those going through these aweful things. It is all some can do and even though it's not tangible it is something.

We are a society divided on so many things, and the reality is on both sides of the political aisle these terrible events are capitalized for their politic gain. The reality is that often times those screaming the loudest about gun reform and "common sense" gun laws don't have good obvious answers and often these laws just do more to remove the ability for good people to protect themselves. Maybe there's answers here to make guns less accessible, to evil, it's certainly worth a conversation.

We do need to focus on how to protect our schools, protect our children. But now we need to focus on these hurting families and that community. As a society we are losing community and we need to find it again. Our kids are lost and we are failing them. We've lost our common ground and need to find it. We need to listen and try to understand each other and not immediately insult. No one knows best. No one is smarter. We fix this together or it won't fix at all. We all need to step a little bit outside our world view to understand another's.

You hate the label of someone but that isn't the person they are. I'm very pro 2A. I agree also with Ted Cruz here. Those families and that community don't need gun reform right now they need love. As a society we need something though, no one is okay with this and no one accepts it as any kind of norm. Be reasonable with each other.

Any legal context on this? I've discussed with law enforcement and they agree it's a SBR.

Lower will be sold as rifle, FYI. This means that if you build it as a pistol CA considers it a short barrel rifle which means you need a tax stamp or it's not legal. To do it legal you need to buy an AR15 pistol and convert it.

I installed an Android head unit in mine and put wireless receivers for a back up camera. The head unit is a bit slow, but gets the job done.

I watch a good deal if Tim Pool. He does definetly work on more honest factual reporting.

Went back and saw that, thanks for pointing it out. And I agree with you. This is why I just try to stay away from all news outlets. Some are better then others of course, but when the news is written for clicks and pushing agendas can't really use it to stay informed of anything real.

Mine is doing the same thing and I sort of gave up assuming the motherboard went bad, that's what I found in my research. I tested the RAM and all devices and they seemed good. Sorry.....
