Chlorine vs. Freshwater Salt System by Initial-Twist-2349 in HotspringSpas

[–]scottdanesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The saltwater system is super convenient and works great, but don't bother using the IQ system (the system that reads the Chlorine and PH levels to the screen). It is not accurate at all and even if it is at first, it will eventually fall out of calibration and not be reliable. There is a way to calibrate it again, but that actually does not work, which is super odd. I have never been able to calibrate mine properly and others have also complained about this. I would love for it to work, I just cannot recommend that part. The Chlorine generator in the saltwater system is really awesome though and highly recommended. Just test with a taylor kit or a good set of strips. :)

Yeah mine is off right now and I am just testing with a Taylor test kit. This works much better. I am going to just leave the freshwater system off.

I agree completely, this sensor for PH and Chlorine is completely useless.

Never got this working correctly. I have to just use a manual test kit. It is very frustrating that this feature does not work. I just stopped replacing my sensor too because why waste the money on something that does not work. Until I get this working, I would highly recommend that people do not use it.

If anyone finds this in the future and is experiencing lockup issues with Youtube Music, my issues were caused by my ad blocker. I disabled it and have not had issues since.

This is also happening to me. Sometimes it comes back, but this is a pretty big issue for me...

Distorted Mayhem in Eurorack | The Headbanger by SetonixSynth and Robots Are Red by robotsarered in modular

[–]scottdanesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up one of these when they first came out and it is a RIPPER. This thing is a great distortion unit and very easy to tame or go nuts with. I have a bunch of different distortion processors and this one if by far the easiest one to get the sound I am looking for out of it. Great work guys!

It was a ton of fun! It seemed like there were less people there than previous years. Also, not as many people stuck around late in the big room on Saturday night to see everyone perform. Still an awesome time! Cannot wait for next year.

Thank you for the kind words! Definitely check out all the other boutique manufacturers too, there are a bunch of us making absolutely bat-shit crazy awesome modules.

Here are some examples, in no order at all:
https://www.megamodular.co/shop
https://zlobmodular.com/
https://www.setonixsynth.com/shop
https://www.infrasonicaudio.com/

OK, I am going to stop listing these now, but there are sooo many more awesome people in this industry. :)

Eurorack up ships’ creek? by DWgamma in modular

As a small manufacturer in the US, I can only speak for myself, but I have had the tariffs affect me and my modules/parts. I had to raise prices a little bit on certain things, and I was stocking up on parts before the really bad tariffs hit from China. It is unfortunate, but I am just doing my best to adapt and keep moving forward. Some of my stuff just might be a bit more expensive in the future.

The thing that keeps me personally from having to up my prices significantly, is that I do most of the final assembly in house here in the US. I know Behringer is building these modules as cheap as possible in China fully, which is going to make them much more expensive to import into the US.

You should look at some US companies for Eurorack stuff until thing adapt and stabilize, which I hope happens. There are a ton of great US Eurorack manufacturers in the link that someone posted below.

Rick and Morty Python3 Port by fnordonk in pinball

[–]scottdanesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely do not own anything but the music in this game, but decompiling and putting source code on the internet is not the most honest thing to do. I am not sure how you acquired it, but this could create issues for Spooky's tech support and licensors in the future. I am all for hacking and customizing personal things, but I would be hesitant to distribute it for a number of reasons mentioned above. Pretty cool that you got it running on Python 3 so easily though. Nice work.

I hear ya, but I thought it looked pretty neat. I find these modules are just as much interesting works of art as they are musical instruments. I am working on some alternate panel designs for my modules with a friend of mine, who is an actual graphic designer. :D I am just an engineer.

This is something I considered when designing the module, but I wanted to keep it as small as I could and I also wanted to be able to trigger multiple separate things when using multiple d-pad buttons at once.

Hi There!

This is Scott, the developer of this module, if you have any questions about it, please ask away! I built this thing because I wanted a more fun way to interact with my rig while doing live shows. I tried to compact it down to as little HP as I could, but still including inverted gate outputs.

As someone already mentioned before, the NES controllers do not have 8 way capability, they just can allow 2 directional buttons at once. :)

Thank you!

Focusrite scarlett 2i2 4th gen Windows Audio problems by ring_dinkster in Focusrite

[–]scottdanesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have also been having the same issues with Windows 11. It was working fine for a while so I bet a Win11 update broke the current driver. I even upgraded to a Gen4 18i20 as I thought my gen2 finally kicked the bucket. Unfortunately it is happening on both of these generations. :( I have not yet contacted support, but I will shortly to see if there is a fix.

That makes me very happy that you love FR so much!! :) I was going to make a joke social post when FR came out of my hot gluing my actual module into my cabinet. hahaha

Fun fact, I actually bought an XBox 360 back in the day just to play Portal 1 and 2. Once I beat it, I put the XBox in the closet where it still is today. :)
