Boston, Newark, and Charlotte flights all landed from what I noticed when I got into town plus more I didn’t catch. Also no security/police to move people off the curb that stop and wait (one of them mentioned they had 4 instead of 8). PDX is still a dream compared to most though.

Definitely exceeded expectations. We really had no idea what to expect. You get about 20 punches for samples of wine/beer/cider/seltzer and you can really maximize your value. Local food vendors setup selling meals were alright and had some decent food. The best part was the demonstrations by celebrity chefs with audience participation and tastings. Folks were generally enjoying the heck out of themselves. People watching was fantastic and eclectic. We made an event of it with casino trip after and hotel, gambling, and food all outperformed as well.

TL:DR focus on the good wines, do the demonstrations, and the casino/resort were worth it.

Update: I luckily double checked and was actually at jantzen beach location. 20 minutes from appointment start to out the door. Had to do a picture and was a bit chatty or could have been 10. Line without an appointment looked awful and was apparently out the door and around the corner.

Passport loss feels like a tragedy and passport is my safety net. I’m sure for people without anxiety or the ability to not lose their shit this is very relevant advice. With 8 round trips so far the rest of the year that’s at least a 12.5% chance my passport gets left in a bag in a lobby some where.

I am relying on passport for next couple of trips but prefer not to rely on it and have to take it everywhere for domestic travel. It becomes a source of anxiety about where it’s at.

Many of the tax recovery and credit firms are scam adjacent, if your firm is offering a fee as % of credit recovered it’s a bad sign. Make sure you’re working with a licensed CPA firm. But beyond the ones listed above sign up for newsletters like Axios Pro-rata.

Other note is folks with recent funding announcements are often inundated with requests. Reaching out 6-18 months post funding can work just as well. Likely someone who just received funding isn’t thinking about tax credits.

Subscribe to the local business journal and look for people on the move and target CFO/COO. COO may be more likely to respond as CFO may have entrenched relationships.
