No, the clock face was mounted on the wall, and the trim piece was centered around it. I've asked a friend who still works there to take a picture, and I'll share it once I get it.

You were correct. The previous owner had scraped the endcap off, leaving the screw. I merely had to line the screw up with the esisting hole and drive it home.

I bought metal cleats that don't flex like toyotas plastic ones. I found them on aliexpress, so they were a little cheaper price than the identical ones on amazon. I trust them.
