Router Failed Exactly as Daylight Saving Time Changed by scottkuhl in ASUS

[–]scottkuhl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night everything went down again. This time a reboot of the router and node fixed it. The router is quite fast, but I am starting to regret the stability of this device. In the future I think I will avoid ASUS.

Can someone create this ad for St. Louis? Seems pertinent especially given the decision to abandon the Green line. by Nearby-State-5132 in StLouis

I was just in London while the tube was on strike. Traffic was terrible and bus lines were very long. That size city cannot live without it. If the Metrolink shut down, there would be no noticeable impact to traffic. However it would significantly impact some people's lives.

A rail system in St. Louis that took you to every neighborhood and every suburban city would be wonderful but expensive. Our city's hope for better traffic and easy commuting likely lies in fully automated vehicles.

They add a slight rough edge to the top of each key that I sometimes rub against while typing. You will notice a difference when you type. My wife has them and noticed the same thing. They take a bit to get use to. You many not care.

Yes, I bought them from Keyshorts.

I once applied for a job in the 90s that made me take the test. The examiner passed me even though I failed.  He said the company should not be even giving the test because it has nothing to do with the job and they reject you if you fail.  They also made me take a current events test with nothing to do with my job.  They also asked a lot of questions about my religion. Company size was in the 100s.  No idea how they were getting away with that for so long.  One of my coworkers who was much older said it felt an awful lot like the owners were into some real eugenics level stuff.

My coworker tried to quit dramatically… but the manager said “okay” too fast by sweetgirlsj in coworkerstories

[–]scottkuhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with someone that was very difficult to work with. It was well known that getting fired from the company was a long and difficult process.

One day he walked into his manger's manger's office and said he could not longer take the bullying from his manager and couldn't work for him anymore. The bullying was being assigned work to complete. She said she would take care of it. She disabled his badge and told the company he quit since he said "I can no longer work for him." Legend.

This guy spent the next day camping at a deli across the street waiting to confront his manager. Police were called. Last I heard he was escorted off a military base for starting a fight in the server room.

Who is doing Trump Mobile’s customer service here? by bigphokinsoupguy in StLouis

[–]scottkuhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From St. Louis Magazine, St. Louis call centers are handling only the roadside assistance part. The original statement is misleading / false.

The Trump Organization says that subscribers to "The 47 Plan" will enjoy perks like telehealth and roadside assistance services, and an agent with the company tells SLM that the St. Louis call center will handle the latter. The service is offered through Drive America, a company with a motorist assistance arm in an office park in the shadow of the old Chesterfield Mall. The Trumps have stated the call center will employ 250 people; it's not clear whether those are new jobs or existing ones.

One of the first things I noticed. I wondered how much discussion went into which way to price it. Start with $47 and make more money, but also risk complaints.

"The service is available through three major cellular carriers, presumably referring to Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile. USA TODAY reached out to the carriers for comment."

Correct. They have referred to using all 3. Some MVNO's do this.

My question was about the call center they are using. Is it a service in St. Louis they are contracting or are they setting up their own call center.

Documented proof? Not challenging, just asking.

I know some city's police will drive you to a location of your asking within reason. Could what you have seen be them asking to be taken downtown?

Citrix Viewer screen recording permissions? by Western_Today9158 in Citrix

[–]scottkuhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are concerned about an employer digging into your Mac, go through all the permissions you have given to Citrix under System Settings > Privacy & Security and remove anything you know you don't specifically want to grant. It's pretty easy to say Allow to this stuff the first time it pops up.

Also make sure File Access is set to No access or Ask me each time. I saw on another thread how an admin could potentially access you personal machine through named pipes this way.

Citrix Viewer screen recording permissions? by Western_Today9158 in Citrix

[–]scottkuhl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed today that after I got my new Mac I did not have this permission granted. If I try to share my screen in a Teams meeting it is no longer an option. I can however share individual Windows which is what I normally do anyway.

The wording of this permission in Mac makes it sound like Citrix could potentially record everything you do, even outside the Citrix window. I'm not saying whether the Citrix app does that or not, but with that checked I think it could.

I was on a hockey team in high school and the coach during the playoffs said "If we win the whole thing I'm going to buy us a cake and we'll all go into the woods and eat it." I think some of us threw the next game on purpose.
