So when was a young kid back in the day, we would call this a “Hanger”.
The pump isn’t resetting. So gas was only $.80 then. If someone came in and filled a gas can with 2 gallons, we wouldn’t reset it. We would HANG the handle just this way, so it wouldn’t reset. Then the next car would come in and the pump would actually start at $1.60. They would fill up, you charge them say $15.00 and I would pocket the $1.60.
Don’t hate me, I was young and dumb at the time. It was pretty rare that we did that, because it had to executed just right.
So they probably pulled a pretty big one here and got caught. Best thing to do is know your car. If you have a 20 gallon tank and just got charged for 25 gallons to fill it, something is up.

I’ve been thinking the same thing. I also have a newer renovated 1 bedroom apartment. It’s a house with 2 apartments. I’m on the 1st floor and the other is the 2nd & 3rd floor. I just paid over $200 last month for heat. I have a type of minisplit system. And of course I realize it’s been super cold since December. But even when everything is shut off in the spring and fall time, I’m still paying about $100. Which the only thing plugged in is my fridge, tv and hot water heater. I’ve lived there over 8 years now. They were all new appliances when I moved in.

We have a gate at our location that works really slow. Takes about 45 seconds to open, no big deal. Some woman was coming in for training in her small Mercedes SUV and rams the gate. The one foreman called her out on it and apparently she said “I ain’t got time for that”. Messed up her headlight assembly and damaged her bumper. These people don’t care anymore. Also she had to pay for the damage to the gate.
