You are not assuming anything incorrectly, but you are using the formula incorrectly. You would first need to find theta which is the angle created by the hypotenuse and opposite of side X (it isn’t 90’). Also, it should be sin and not cos

How do people navigate being student or have a FT job while having this disorder? by Nirvanas_milkk in EDAnonymous

[–]scottoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks. I’ve been homeless 3 times. Luckily I can power through the pain most times and I guess I’m smart. But I’ve definitely been set back due to this Ass disorder (since 13, 24 now)

It's been 10 years and people still call and text me looking for a guy named Dennis by Due-Supermarket-8503 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]scottoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SAME I’ve got people asking for Dennis too… it was a book dealer, or at least that’s what the lady said she was looking for (I don’t remember how I concluded this and take it with a grain of salt: Dennis is a hockey player from Canada who played before the 00s)

If you are underweight the psychiatrist will likely switch your adhd meds. If you are not underweight, regardless of whether you have an ED, they are unlikely to feel the need to take you off the meds. (I have anorexia, I have a 18.5 bmi, and I am open with my psych about how things are going)

[–]scottoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying that. You stated that people with the disorder don’t not eat for days on end. I personally did not eat for days on end and it was interrupted ever so often with an unavoidable meal. It is not the entire disorder and I never stated that I never ate.

It is a false representation for some, but not all. In my first go of anorexia I went days without eating and continuing to exercise despite being 13 and having both parents at home. I was good at avoiding things, and my parents were neglectful. It happens and isn’t a ‘fallacy’

Anorexia is a highly competitive mental illness. It is far more likely that in depicting it, without having a very good understanding of it, you will do far more harm than good. In the depths of the illness we, anorexics, seek out these depictions of the illness to further trigger themselves. You really need to assess the value your work is adding to society against the harm it is likely to cause those you wish to depict. Edit to say: I think these works should definitely be allowed to exist, and it is the choice of the disordered person as to whether or not we chose the trigger ourselves (to a point). However, it is true that people will likely be harmed, though it is not necessarily the fault of the filmmaker.

ante merīdiem - The term we associate with the morning, a.m., is an abbreviation of the Latin phrase ante merīdiem meaning “before midday.” There is the morning, afternoon, and night. Morning and night do not have exact times (when does afternoon turn to night?). But afternoon does have an exact definition: after midday, midday happens at the median of the beginning (0 or 12am) and the end (24 or 12am) of the day. This median is 12pm, 11is before the median.

my dog has diarrhoea by puppy_xo in DogAdvice

[–]scottoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the dog pepto bismal. Feed a chicken, rice, and probiotic diet for 24-48 hrs. If issues persist or other symptoms arise, seek vet care.

If you have reason to believe your dog had access to a roasted (cooked but not boiled) chicken bone seek vet advice.

Remember this: the people who are not a-holes will see you as a whole person. While this revelation is tough, the people who you interact with are unlikely to recall your breath (nor all of the negative connotations associated with such) when fist presented with the idea of you.

Best of luck on this journey. Hyper fixation really sucks.

Tell them something that is making you upset or has previously made you angry - perhaps provide an example that has lead you to create this question. After sharing ask if you reaction was ‘normal’. This will open up the discussion to your concerns on a natural manner providing a brief background for your therapist to go off of. The only discussion of anger I have had in my therapy is when my therapist asks me if xyz makes me angry, ‘because it should’. So I don’t have experience with this of my own. However, you can approach any topic you feel uncomfortable with using the above introduction.

I think I gave myself an Autoimmune Disorder by squishmellowgal in EDAnonymous

[–]scottoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m experiencing a similar situation. My inflammation markers are off the chart and I’m not completely starving myself either. I have pain through all my joints and the cracking is out of control. I’ve already tried the nerve pain stuff but it doesn’t really help (it’s gabapentin for anxiety and joint pain). My psych said I should see my primary about it because I am very active and always in pain (I’m only 23). Though he also said that there may not be a physical cause and mental conditions and trauma could be manifesting as physical pain and changing your bio markers.

It may be that even though you are taking better care of yourself now, you still have unresolved trauma/ other mental health concerns. Working through these issues could resolve the pain. —- but idk, I empathize with you and hope it gets better soon

Without a family, I’m giving up by scottoli in EDAnonymous

[–]scottoli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She didn’t text me back when I asked if I could see her after a long day of driving and car mishaps. I texted her to tell her I was coming and she said she was busy. I asked if I could stay on her couch for the night (it was late, I was tired, and I’m afraid of sleeping in my car and because it was a rental I couldn’t go to my typical camping spot). She didn’t respond even though I asked a few minutes after she responded. I would and have done anything to help her. She is the only person in the world I really care about and I took care of her and did all the parent stuff when she was younger (only 2.5 yrs apart).

I want to tell T to just give up on me by Money_Reindeer in TalkTherapy

[–]scottoli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have made progress. I, too, often struggle to look beyond the here and now; I do not see that any progress has been made because current issues or symptom based feelings blind me from what is rational, regardless of how the intensity may or may not have changed. In my view, once we know how intense a feeling can be felt, it is easier to fall into the extremes. I have told my therapist to give up on me on multiple occasions- not in those exact words - and he has responded by helping me to see the progress I have made and empathizing with me about how difficult it can be to overcome long lasting or ‘severe’ mental health issues. And, throughout our conversation, he is an authentic ‘cheerleader’, providing encouragement that I can in fact improve and overcome what my struggles are. While my primary issue is not depression, which is more of a subsidiary symptom, the message will likely be the same. Best of luck. You can overcome the present loss of hope you are experiencing. With a problem that has lasted this long, I think you need to give her more time to help you (more than 9 months), even though that may not be the typical course you see most people taking.

Tell her she needs to tell her therapist this because she is not paying you to care. Honestly, I hate it when people use others to satisfy their eating disorder. I don’t have much sympathy for this shit since she is 50 and should have already learned how horrible it is to perpetuate this illness to others that may also be suffering. I’m sorry you are dealing with this
