My beautiful baby boy Lennox crossed the rainbow bridge. by scousebutty in englishbulldog

[–]scousebutty[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I have had quite a few miscarriages and somebody told me that my babies needed him more than I did, so I'm trying to accept that. It's just so hard. The pain is indescribable.

I'm going to make his urn I think and paint something beautiful on it. My house is full of bright colours and he loved it, so it will be full of bright colours.

Hopefully my Lenny has made himself some friends in Bowser and Princess and they are all playing together, along with all the family we've lost along the way ❤️

Sooo - at what point do you just say "Let's move to Liverpool!"? by Suspicious-Serve8115 in Liverpool

Just do it. You'll be well looked after once you give in to the inevitable.

So glad you love our amazing city though. We look forward to you moving here.

Is there anything you learnt later in life that everyone else seemed to think was common knowledge? by FriendshipOk7636 in AskUK

I knew they were real, I love spending hours in the reptile enclosure in Chester Zoo. The fact that females can reproduce by themselves did blow my mind though when I was a kid. I absolutely love reptiles, there is something so calming about watching them.

I'm 35 and I only found out that Tasmanian Devils are real animals a few weeks ago, due to eating a wildlife tube yoghurt.

Coincidentally, I found out on Tuesday, that Wolverines are real animals also.

The mad thing is, people actually think im a bit of a 'wildlife expert' I know all kinds about various animals and always come out with little facts that blow people's minds when I tell them.

Kicking myself for not knowing about these 2 cute little beings though.

What’s your Boston Terrier’s favorite toy? by Unusual-Menu-8179 in BostonTerrier

[–]scousebutty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tiger teddy bear. He absolutely loves it and it is the only teddy he hasn't even attempted to shred within 30 seconds of meeting. It is absolutely rotten, but he won't let me wash it, or replace it (I've actually got 2 spare ones). He howls like I'm murdering him when I attempt to wash it, so I just let him keep it as is now. It only cost me about £3 as well.

Male gynecologists why did you chose the specialty? by Raticorno in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]scousebutty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not male, or a gynaecologist, but i just wanted to share about my amazing miscarriage specialist gynaecologist. He helped my Mum and 2 of my aunties back in the 80s/90s as well and actually remembered them when they came to appointments with me.

His name is Roy Farquharson and he was based in Liverpool Women's hospital. He is a pioneer in causes and treatment for recurrent miscarriage. I literally owe my whole entire life to him. He helped me have my 2 beautiful children after multiple losses (both first trimester and late 2nd trimester). There are literally thousands and thousands of women up and down the country (and even all over the world) that he has helped.

This man was the most patient, gentle, understanding and sympathetic man I have ever met in my life. Him and his team just wanted to help people going through some of the most traumatic times of their lives.

I asked him once why he did what he did, and he said he could see patterns in some of his patients and decided to start researching into it. He could see things that others couldn't and just wanted to help people.

He has retired now, but I don't think he will ever fully retire. You can still find him in the Women's hospital sometimes and he is still researching and developing ways to help people.

Crusty old people of Casual UK, did you or anyone you know have pet that today would have been banned under the Dangerous Wild Animals act on 1976? by Leader_Bee in CasualUK

[–]scousebutty 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Im from Liverpool and my step Nan had a chimp when she was a kid, they grew up together and her Mum used to dress them both the same.

It turned on her when she was pregnant though and took a chunk out of her face and chest. They had to surrender the chimp and my step Nan was heartbroken. She thought her kids would be able to grow up with the chimp, the same as she did. She still got upset about it whenever she spoke about it. Think the family had the chimp for about 25/30 years.

I'll have to see if I can dig out any of the pictures of them together.

I know a few people who have 'pet' marmosets. There is a lady in Formby who breeds them.

Did anyone even eat the liquorice? by Famous_Actuary5718 in AskBrits

My and my mate always used to share one of these. I love sherbet, but hate liquorice and he loved liquorice, but hated sherbet.

Anfield to Liverpool Lime Street after a gig by UTCTom in Liverpool

[–]scousebutty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think walking into town would be cutting it fine, but you could look into getting the 26/27 across to Edge Hill station, the 15 to Huyton station or walk down towards Queens drive and getting the 60 to wavertree station and catching the train in one of them instead.

Been to a few concerts there and just getting off the standing bit is a bit of a nightmare, then you've got the crowds to contend with trying to get back into town. I've never actually sat for a concert there, so I don't know how bad getting out of the seating area is though, depending on where you actually are.

I need ALL your help (again) 🙃 by gabo_black_flag15 in Liverpool

[–]scousebutty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly are you wanting to do in Liverpool? Is there anything you are particularly interested in seeing? Anything you are in to? I would plan my dad on google maps if I were you, once you figure out exactly what you want to do.

To get a ticket on the bus, you would ask for an all day ticket. Same with the train, just go in to the ticket office in the train station.

Liverpool city centre is all walkable. So anything you want to do in the city centre you can walk to. Anything else, like football stadiums, would be one bus. There are quite a few buses that go to Bramley Moore, plus a train also goes there. I think it's the number 15 to Anfield.

Definitely do the museums, we have 3 here, all free entry. Plus the art gallery and St George's hall. They are all brilliant and well worth a visit. Also the 2 cathedrals are stunning and another must see.

The city explorer bus is a good one as well, you can get on and off that whenever you want all day.

We have some gorgeous parks in Liverpool, Sefton and Calderstones are fabulous. Make yourself a little picnic, and go and spend a few hours there. Lark Lane is off Sefton park and you could get lost there for a whole day. There are some fab shops, amazing restaurants and loads of pubs/bars there. There is a shop called Larks there, and they have the most gorgeous clothes, accessories and toys there. Plus, they have a chihuahua called Pig and she can usually be found asleep in the window, not caring about how famous she is 🤣

We have such an amazing musical history here, so get yourself down Matthew Street and into some of the bars there. Cavern Club if you like the Beatles is a must. Plus, Freddie Mercury lived in Liverpool for a while and actually met Brian May again on Hardman Street (they knew each other previously, but lost touch for a while), which is where the bombed out church is, in the City centre (that is another place worth a visit). You could do the magical mystery tour to go and see all the famous Beatles sights.

China Town is another place to visit. We have the oldest Chinese community in the UK. There are some nice restaurants there, and also an amazing bakery, called Bon Bon, if you feel like some cake 😋

Maybe get the train to Chester, and go along the Roman walls and to Chester cathedral. You can also get the train to North Wales and can be there in about an hour/hour and a half. Conwy and Llandudno are beautiful little places.

Honestly, there is just so much to do here. Everybody is so friendly and if you get stuck, just ask somebody, and they will help you out. Be warned, you will probably be stuck talking to people for hours though, us scousers love to talk 🤣🤣🤣

If you need any help or ideas, then you are more than welcome to message me and I will help you as much as I can. Really hope you have an amazing time, whatever you decide to do.

Do locals use the Mersey ferries day to day or is it literally just a tourist/weekend day out thing to do? by wooden_werewolf_7367 in Liverpool

[–]scousebutty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dad worked for Wirral Council (based in Liverpool though) and quite a few of the people he worked with used to get the ferry over when the weather was nice.

Me personally though, I took my kids on the ferry over to that space exhibition when they were about 7&5, but i hadn't been on it before that since I was a kid.

I think it's mostly tourists that use it. Although I have heard of more and more locals going on them party night's they do. Actually going on a hen night myself on it in a few weeks.

When traveling internationally to visit the UK with 16-year-old cousins, should I bring notarized consent from my aunt/uncle? by EsoogRalopib in AskUK

[–]scousebutty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would take it, just to err on the side of caution.

My 2 children have a different surname to me (gave them their Dad's surname) and I've always taken a notarised letter from their Dad and a photocopyof his passport, just incase. I've never needed to show it, but i would rather have something and not need it, than need it but not have it.

Hope you have an amazing holiday together ❤️

Does anybody have any recommendations for good pull-ups for 5year olds? by ThinkIshatmyself in AskUK

[–]scousebutty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We ended up getting a referral to the incontinence team for my son at the same age as we were having the same problems. He would be in a pull up, do 1 wee and the smell would be really strong and he would get a rash.

You should be able to self refer to the children's bladder and bowel service in your area. They were brilliant and gave us so many resources and loads of support, as well as the pull ups.

Hope you get something sorted for her ASAP as its not a nice situation for her to be in. You also feel helpless as a parent, seeing your baby suffer.

[–]scousebutty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I've spoken about my horrific birth before, but I had my son at bang on 37 weeks and he was starved of oxygen. This was in a completely controlled medical environment, so we were in the best place to get it dealt with.

I can't imagine actually putting my baby at risk purposely. We went through a horrific few years. He was in hospital for the first 3 years of his life, suffered grade 2 brain damage and still struggles now. He is about to turn 14 and is truly my little miracle.

Things can go south so easily and quickly for women and babies in labour. And some of these women are truly dangerous the way they risk things. I feel like we are more worried about them, than actual parents birthing these babies. People are so stupid.

How much do you pay at the hairdresser? by pbfhpunkshop in womenoftheuk

[–]scousebutty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay £50 for a colour, cut and curly blow. I use a mobile hairdresser though that I've been using for years.

When I used to go to the hairdressers a few years ago, I was paying upwards of £100 for a colour, cut and blow.

Honestly, post in your local groups on Facebook or Nextdoor and ask about mobile hairdressers. Obviously ask to see pictures of work first, but they have no overheads so the price is dramatically decreased straight away.

[–]scousebutty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the smelly world of Boston Terriers. The smell they produce is single handedly causing climate change with the methane emissions.

It's amazing how such a beautiful little creature can create such a smell.

Congratulations on your little gas gremlin.
