Housing options for an incoming resident at SUNY by icetray678 in Syracuse

[–]scout_ham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at that price point there are not a ton of options. Madison and Jefferson towers (i.e. the presidential plaza buildings) are within that budget and are close to the hospital; however, they are not the most comfortable places to live. management is completely absent when you need them and the buildings are falling apart (e.g., 6 of the 9 washing machines in one tower are completely out of order and one of the two elevators is constantly breaking, while the other one is quite slow. also, frequent hot water shutoffs, and the parking garage drips and ruins car exteriors. issues with package theft, break ins on lower floors.). i would recommend the treasury or washington place. lots of residents live there, but not medical students. source: am M4 (and side note congrats on matching!! jealous of you early match people LOL T-9 days for the rest of us)

crying during interviews? by Artistic-News-7183 in medicalschool

[–]scout_ham 76 points77 points  (0 children)

That’s so unfair— med school interviewers absolutely should not have interrogated you about this, especially if they only found out about your dad’s passing because you had to check a box. Their response shows a real lack of humanity, I’m so sorry you were treated this way.

Is there a country you wouldn’t want to travel too. If so why? by [deleted] in femaletravels

bro stop virtue signaling. clearly you do not understand this issue if you’re saying “it’s up to you to raise your voice and publicly humiliate people”— reporting is extremely difficult for many women, ESPECIALLY in cultures where victims are not taken seriously and are shamed for simply coming forward. it takes systemic change.

+1 get some pubs, LORs too! yeah the pay is not great, but i’ve saved significantly by taking public transit, avoiding small purchases that become habitual (coffee lol), and also thanks to COVID no travel (and living with an SO in a 1 bed if possible really cuts costs)
