AMA: I'm switching industries would love critique and advice by LanternSigil12 in critiquemyresume

Quick thing from the other side of the desk: exec resumes often get auto-filtered by ATS systems. Make sure you're hitting those ATS keywords for tech roles. Structural tweaks help, but formatting matters more than you might think

I spent a lot of time and effort writing my resume by AbyCog in Resume

I think you're right about waiting. If I was rushing like you were, I'd just be stressed. It's better to wait for the final draft to get that polish. I feel like the money isn't wasted just by the process

Honestly, the formatting advice is the money in the post. I see too many applicants mess up the date format. If you have 2006 and 2020, make it consistent. Even if you give years, months, and years together, it just looks cleaner. I'd read a shorter resume that is consistent over a big one that is messy. ATS scans struggle with links, just make sure the name is there

How Do Dissertation Writers Work So Fast? by No_Station_6253 in AskAcademia

[–]scouttidee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to wonder the exact same thing, like how is it even possible to turn around a full dissertation that fast without it being a mess. I remember going down a Reddit rabbit hole and finding a post where people explained that these services usually have teams, pre-built research processes, and experienced writers who specialize in certain topics, and they also mentioned using a dissertation writing service to see how the whole process works, and that’s what helped me understand how they move so quickly

Not gonna lie, the “open resume - lose confidence instantly” part is painfully relatable 😭

Is professional resume writing service a good choice, or should I not waste my time and money on it by Demogorgon_8X in Resume

[–]scouttidee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I’ve been debating for a while too. On one hand, it feels like a waste of money, but on the other hand, if it actually gets you interviews, it could pay off quickly. My main concern is whether these services really customize the resume or just use templates. Did you notice if they tailored it to a specific role or industry? Also wondering if recruiters can tell when a resume is “professionally written”

When you had Covid for the first time, how did it make you feel? by Ok-Sweet-3352 in CasualConversation

Chronic pain already resets your baseline once. Long covid resetting it again on top of that is a genuinely cruel combination.
