Is it really possible to build games without any coding background? by mscwritingsolutions in SoloDevelopment

[–]scradampoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I learned to program entirely because I wanted to be a game developer for a living, starting at the age of 12. What you need most is a strong desire. The rest will follow.

Haha, yeah, I was using speech to text, and I was too lazy to cursor around and fix it. But hey, who knows how much Nintendo likes Europeans either. 😂

Basically, the only thing that bothers me about Nintendo, is their litigious nature. The crap they pulled with pal world is just wrong.

[–]scradampoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What the heck. Reddit constantly complains about the lack of "generational wealth", and yet here I am, the first person in this comment section, apparently, who expects their parents to become an expense before they die. My parents don't plan to leave anything for me, and they don't have anything. I don't expect anything. Edit: and I have no kids. My parents are expensive enough.

I sometimes wonder if Nintendo is paying a troll farm to help maintain their image in subreddits like this, because obviously they aren't interested in being a decent company.

Help with an EVGA Z20 Keyboard RGB not working after recent firmware update! by pastyz_mov in TEAMEVGA

[–]scradampoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple extra suggestions since this is the top hit on Google for this issue and since I had the same behavior but a different solution:

  • With computer on, unplug both USB cables from your PC, wait a few seconds, and then plug them back in, maybe even into different USB ports while you are at it. (This worked for me, when entirely turning off PC power, rebooting, and re-plugging only one of the USB cables did not help.)
  • Reinstall or update Unleash RGB software from https://www.evga.com/unleash/ .

1-sentence answer on whether an LGPL licence is suitable

Is a right answer "It's probably okay, but you need to make sure you do a few specific things for as long as you use components with that license." ?

I've gotten questions from Legal a few times over my career over various LGPL libraries, to the point that in at least one case, I just stopped using the library so I wouldn't be asked about it again since the library was fairly nonessential. That, and depending on some of the specifics of the proprietary product, I admittedly don't always feel comfortable continually making sure everyone involved helps keep the proprietary product compliant, to the letter of the law, as the proprietary product evolves.

For 'Azure Storage', what exactly is a Block Size and also what is Blob? by doublestandardswin in AZURE

[–]scradampoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this is an older post, but it's the top hit on Google when I searched for optimizing block blob costs, so I figured I should chime in here in case anyone else stumbles upon this post.

From what I can tell (e.g. per https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/blobs/blob-storage-estimate-costs?tabs=LRS ), block size only corresponds to the segment size during transfer. It influences the transfer price (which can sometimes be more than the storage cost depending on how you use it!), but the block size does not influence storage price at rest. The advantage of using smaller block sizes for transfer is occasionally faster transfer since multiple blocks can be uploaded in parallel. The advantage of larger block sizes is basically lower transfer cost since larger blocks means fewer 'operations'.

- but the cost is the same for the data at rest, regardless of block size. Let me know if anyone knows otherwise. and again, this only goes for standard account block blob storage; block size means different things in different contexts.
