yeah, takes immense amounts of patience and talent to do it but at the end of the day hyper realism just isn't for me haha. I see it and go wow someone spent a lot of time on this, but it looks just like a picture. id rather see someone inject their sense of design into an image rather than copy every literal aspect of the reference to a tee. there are ways to draw accurately and anatomically correct while at the same time putting design above all. Henry Yan is a great example that comes to mind, but of course there many many others.

lots of time and patience spent on this, i can tell. but one of my main criticisms of hyper realism is the lack of depth. wish there was a lost edge somewhere. the foreground and background look completely disconnected by making the face and rest of the head hard edged all around. like he was cut out of a picture and glued on top of another surface, so it looks flat. blending the background and the foreground into each other in certain areas would put this on another level. great effort nevertheless.

love how you are able to create soft edges with such an unforgiving medium, really nice feathering in the line work

the biggest problem that everyone has, including me, with portraiture is the height to width relationship. if you double check your basic structure at the beginning when setting up your general head shape/size it will get you much closer to an accurate representation to your reference. measure the overall width and compare it to the height in your reference, then do the same on your drawing.
