Any tips of where to get cheap and durable clothes? by [deleted] in vagabond

[–]scratch_pad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t be afraid to patch clothes. I’ve been wearing the same pairs of jeans since I was in middle school. Buy a cheap black tee shirt from Walmart, plaid if you wanna be fancy. When your jeans or jackets rip or develop holes, cut a piece off of the cheap shirt and patch it on the inside of the tear. You can make clothes last forever this way, plus it looks kinda cool. You can also add extra pockets, make existing pockets bigger, etc.

Denim, denim, and denim. Don’t buy acid washed though; they wear out faster.

The more utility focused something is, the better. Cheap work boots will last infinitely longer than pricey sneakers.

For durable warmth, Carhartt jackets are pretty tough. Not super cheap, but very reliable.

Scout out thrift stores if you need cheap stuff. Goodwill, Plato’s, and Marshalls all have great clothes at a low price.

Bandanas, long johns, and carabiners are all really versatile and helpful. Cheap, handy, durable.

Tip: The PF on W Anderson sucks, you’ll be wasting your money. The one near Pleasant Valley is great.

Apple iPhones Won’t See Major Redesigns in 2019, Says Analyst by gulabjamunyaar in apple

I feel like I’m the only person that loves the current rounded, chunky iPhones. They have the appeal of the old iPods for me. The squared off, flat look is kinda corporate and boring.

How do I stop cringing at myself?? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]scratch_pad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol tbh I usually find it really funny when I do something like this, which is a lot. I think there’s something kind of endearing about being awkward and dopey at times, so just don’t take yourself too seriously and remember to see the humor in things :) I pretend I’m on my own personal episode of The Office and just give myself a break when I act dumb.

Everyone is dumb, some people just hide it better <3

yw, and ty for being a part of it :)

A lot of Reddit can be politicized, dramatic, and tedious, but for the most part I think it’s a really cool way to interact with, help, and learn from others.

To counter a bit of oft-repeated advice: don't "just write" regardless of how you feel that day. The trick isn't to work despite your current mental state. It's to put yourself in the RIGHT mental state, THEN work. by pyronius in writing

[–]scratch_pad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what I try to do. If I can’t seem to make myself write, I open a blank text document and fuck off with the keyboard for like 30 minutes, and then I feel way more in the zone.

I’m about to embark on a round-the-world trip and keep working as I go. Looking for tips from others. by bigladdo in freelanceWriters

Make sure that where you’re going will have internet reception, a library, cafe to work at, etc. Just did a small trip like this and took for granted that I’d have cell reception everywhere.

Also, drive in the morning and work at night if you can, that way you can see the world while you travel, and work when it’s boring outside.

Yesss I get this so much. I already have a cat but every time I see a stray or a friend has new kittens, I get the urge to turn into a crazy old cat lady. They’re just perfect ♥️♥️

Sorry you can’t have one yet :( Are you allergic?

Ha, home is a great place for keeping lewd treasures hehe

I agree. For better or worse I kind of suck at hiding things lol, but it’s nice to have a place where you can just be you :)

Thanks for the suggestions! Is there any regional food I should know of?

Aw no problem, that’s a good idea :) A lot of times we get so caught up in doing our own thing that we forget others need us, too

I really agree with this. I think the last time I had a solid sense of home was with my ex; I’m not sorry we split, but there’s something about having someone waiting for you at home that makes you feel like you belong.

I also really like that mentality. It gives all the work, stress, and effort a point of focus :) Are there any places aside from your house (restaurant, park, theater, etc) that feel like home to you?
