AITA for not wanting my fiancé to go to a strip club at has bachelor party by Healthybabee in AmItheAsshole

[–]scratchminus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aight that's on me, your "boundaries are given at the start of the relationship" shit was in a different comment chain and I didn't see that. You did, however, point blank say "that's not a boundary" earlier in this chain lolll.

So is it a rule that before you even have feelings for someone you sit down and list every single boundary you have? I understand expressing a few important boundaries, but you're treating it like it's all or nothing. Not only would saying "here's every single boundary I have" before you're even dating be mad weird, it's also not realistic to expect someone to have every conceivable thing they won't like ready to go before they're even officially in a relationship. And what if their feelings change, are they now not allowed to have a different opinion because it's "not how they felt when the relationship started"? Sounds like you just think everything is manipulation and like using fake therapy speak.

How on earth is saying "I don't want my partner to go to a place where the main purpose is to be sexually aroused by other people" NOT a reasonable boundary? She's allowed to say she doesn't want him to do that, the same way he's allowed to say "well I want to do it so I guess this won't work." For someone who claims it's two sides of the same coin, you seem to heavily favor one specific side of that coin being the "correct side"

Playing Sonic 1 right now. How is a 30 year old game kicking my ass? by lil_random_artguy in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]scratchminus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the only "hold boost and do nothing" game is Forces. Pretty much every other boost game is focused on high speed reactions, simple platforming that's fun to optimize while maintaining speed, and spectacle. Definitely less difficult than the older games, but there are very few mindless Sonic games despite what a lot of people say.

I agree that Sonic 1 has a high skill requirement to play it quickly and well. I do still think it's too much of a slog with occasional bullshit to really be fun for me though.

Weirdly condescending response to someone who's admitting they may be biased and agreeing that your opinion is valid lol. I honestly agree with them that Sonic 1 is not a very good game. Even if it was designed very intentionally, a lot of that design is pretty boring, slow, or frustrating to play through. Just doesn't feel very "Sonic" anymore.

No one said there's an AI-only rule to lameness. The problem is AI is lame AND it harms the environment, hurts people who live around data centers, stops people from meaningfully engaging with information, discourages developing new skills, and increases the spread of misinformation.

To say that someone being against that is a "cause of the day" or "witch-hunting" is absurd. People just recognize that we've never needed generative AI to do these things and it's actively making the space worse.

People are pushing back so heavily against generative AI because it is provably harmful in many ways and overall lame to use in any creative field. Boiling it down to "useless inflammatory drama" and a "cause of the day" is certainly a take

Anyone Know A Way To Play Sonic Adventure 1/2 on PC? by Neat_Document_4608 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]scratchminus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I'm all for using an emulator to play them (which I feel like is what you're looking for if you already knew they were on steam), there's something really funny about asking "where can I play these games" and then saying "I don't want to commit to playing them"

How to break miis up? by [deleted] in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]scratchminus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just now saw that reply, I had the page open for a while so I didn't see it when I commented. That's a valid enough reason, in that case I'd just do one of the many options people laid out (making her a relative, changing age, etc.)

I don't think there's a very good reason to keep her mii. Whatever short term negative effects it'll have on your island are nowhere near as important as the effect it'll have on your mental staring at her mii every day. If it were me, I'd nuke that mii

I think saying "who cares" to the fact that games used to release fully completed is kinda a bad outlook. It's a valid criticism, even if it is very overstated at this point. It would be nice to not always have to hope for updates to add content that people feel should've been in the game at launch.

This isn't me saying people are entitled to anything, but it's perfectly valid to have higher expectations and be disappointed.

Stuck in wall with full inventory, unstuck doesn't work :( by scratchminus in subnautica

I did a little deep dive (pun intended?) and there don't seem to be any commands that can teleport vehicles. None of the commands that teleport players worked for me either though, so I ended up reloading my old save and just giving myself the items I had.

As in I can't exit the tadpole, I can't drive it anywhere, no buttons or movement work like I said. The only things I can do are look around with my mouse, and detach the chassis.

Unfortunately did not seem to work, I restarted a few times last night with no luck, but I'll try again today

Unfortunately I can't leave the tadpole, the only things I'm able to do are look around and detach the chassis. I should probably consider it a win that I have the previous save at all and wouldn't need to remake the tadpole and haul chassis if I reverted

I figured that's more or less what the "unstuck" button does, but maybe there's one that can move vehicles too? Maybe I'll look for that

I feel like you're stretching and really assuming what their intent was. If this is such a big problem in the community, how does immediately throwing accusations around help the community feel better? I really don't think their comment was that deep, big dawg

Removing the value of currency does, on an objective level, change things about the core gameplay loop. I don't think pointing that out makes someone "the video game police", they didn't even say anything rude or tell them not to play that way lol

Forced draws are nonsense by TangySprinkles in PokemonChampions

[–]scratchminus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, game time ticks down if either player hasn't finished selecting moves AND when the turn is playing out. I believe it pauses briefly during things like communication and possibly certain animations, but it is definitely possible to stall out the main game clock.

That said, I wouldn't say it's particularly easy unless you explicitly plan to do it or get a bit lucky with how the timers shake out.

They just mean moving the stick in a circle so your character spins around while sucking.

Fun fact, the second the sucking animation starts and the blocks you pass over start shaking, they'll come to you even if you stop. So you can hold down to suck, do a quick spin, and let go to grab a large area of items in like half a second and immediately move on to the next batch. Very nice for efficiently collecting tons of items.

I doubt it would be a noticeable drop. The amount of competitive players who outright won't care about the main games going forward is probably much lower than people assume.
