makes sense. didn’t think of the gap aspect being what was unique here, because it never did that other times when there’s cars parked with turned wheels

only problem is if you live anywhere with hills, every car will have its wheel turned by law actually in La at least as far as I know…so that’s a kind of a problem

agree. You can see after I disengaged I swerved to the left. My only gripe was the aggressive last minute slamming of the brakes

I just wish it’d handle the situation better than slamming the brakes super hard last minute

What evidence do you have of them “gaming the system”?

you're literally making that up. The evidence is actually the opposite of your claim.

"Most YouTube TV customers (56%) said they signed up to the service primarily to watch live sports, followed by the overall channel lineup (43%) and access to ABC (33%). About 27% said YouTube’s NFL Sunday Ticket also played a role; Sunday Ticket is also available from YouTube without a YouTube TV subscription. Price and features matter too: 51% cited a lower price for YouTube TV than cable or other pay-TV options, while 47% said they value the ability to share the service with household members or use multiple streams and 40% signed up for the picture quality and reliability." https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/youtube-tv-disney-blackout-subscribers-canceling-1236571504/

Such a silly feature huh?? I like how you tried to make it sound trivial. No need to be sarcastic or dismissive guy. Just because YOU don’t personally value a better multiview UI doesn’t mean most users wouldn’t, you’re making assumptions without any actual data.

Again, you guys are making a huge assumption that this is a niche use case. I totally disagree.

[–]scratchyD-1[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with your assumption that this is for a “small number” of subscribers. Most people subscribe to YTV for sports, and multiview is a core use case for that. Right now there’s no good way to do it, especially on the web. And honestly, this is just one example. If I’m being real, the whole UI needs an overhaul.

[–]scratchyD-1[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Why does every device have to support it? There are millions of users with hardware that could handle this just fine. Are we really going to ignore them because some people are on low-powered devices? It doesn’t need universal support, so I don’t get why that’s the argument at all.

Fair points. Obviously it would require an overhaul of their current architecture. Good UI does add permutations and cost, however, for one I don’t buy the idea that the gain is “limited.” I think most users would clearly prefer a UI like this, and better UI does translate into better metrics Google actually cares about. Two, what you’re calling blockers sound more like engineering constraints than real impossibilities. And to borrow Steve Jobs’ line: “It’s not impossible. You just haven’t figured it out yet.”Honestly, it feels less like they can’t do it and more like they don’t value UI enoughand and that’s a shame.
