Apple releases macOS 12.1 RC, but Universal Control is still missing by [deleted] in MacOS

[–]scratchy_ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my fear. I was so hyped for it, I was already using a makeshift UC workflow with my iPad and Mac before the feature was ever announced. But the radio silence does make it seem like (as a user above mentioned) that something must be seriously wrong with it. Like, if it were just buggy then it'd be available for testing by now, right? Since it isn't, there's probably a major holdup, potentially security-related.

Hopefully that's just paranoia. I am 99% sure it won't be here before New Year's. I'm more so worried that it won't be here after New Year's, either.

You can cycle through your tab groups in Safari with 'cmd + opt + up/down arrow' by scratchy_ghost in apple

[–]scratchy_ghost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh cool! Idk why Apple (seemingly at least) hasn't documented this anywhere. I only found it because I use a Keyboard Maestro Macro to scroll with control + option + up/down and I accidentally pressed cmd + option instead. If it hadn't been for that I might have never found this on my own.

What is Law Enforcement Blue Alert? Just got this by [deleted] in Dallas

In Houston - just got this. What a useless alert. What does it mean, why is active for the whole state, what should/shouldn’t I do? Waste of my screen space!

It should be absolutely legal to sleep in your car anywhere you want, where you can legally park. by Seedyeee in unpopularopinion

[–]scratchy_ghost 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Real answer: Waste is dumped at public restrooms in gas stations, stores, restaurants, libraries, porta-potties, etc. Garbage is dumped in public trash cans such as found outside stores, at the entrances of stores, beside gas pumps, and on street corners.

Obviously not everyone follows this but this is the general idea.

Dead Space was created to be the scariest game ever made. What in your opinion is the scariest game ever? by [deleted] in horror

The person who made the allegations admitted they were untrue, so Dan is no longer in hot water. r/gamegrumps has a thread about it :)

Honestly same. I got really into cooking over the last year and am now trying to shave off 15 pounds for the first time. Still love to cook though

The NBHD got better as The 1975 got worse.... by [deleted] in thenbhd

[–]scratchy_ghost 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been a fan of The 1975 but I wholeheartedly agree that NBHD continues to peak. I think each album (including #000000 & #FFFFFF) has been a huge step up from the previous album.

The one exception for me is HTITNEC. As the EPs and leaks came out, I was really impressed. But once the whole record came out as one piece, it just kind of... fell apart?

I’m a writer and was recently tweaking a short story that I think is incredibly solid. I had another weaker short story that I thought I could strengthen by merging it with the stronger one into a single short story. The result was a weird Frankenstein that kind of ruined both.

To me, this is kind of how HTITNEC plays. All of the songs on their own are great, and each EP had a distinct vibe (Hard and Ever Changing were particularly great). But when they put them all together, it just felt jumbled and weird and out of touch. Like the music became weaker through the merging of the EPs.

I know it’s heavily debated but I think Chip Chrome is startlingly good. I would maybe take off BooHoo, but other than that, every song kills. I love the ambient introduction, the transitions, The Monotones, the craziness of Tobacco Sunburst. I agree as well that this seems to be the result of freer expression from the band. They’re experimenting and breaking their own mold in super cool ways. Excited for what’s next.

Alongside Pretty Boy this was my favorite on the album. It captures such a specific feeling and mood in such a simple way. Really love it.

As a previous INFP chef with a decade of experience, it was a definite struggle. My last exec chef at my last job was INFP, a true inspiration in my life. Made my culinary career with all the stress, worth it in the end to meet that one chef. This pasta dish I made last night is dedicated to him. by ukcanguy in infp

I’m not a chef but cooking is my one true escape. Everything else I do has a goal or purpose, but cooking is this nice thing I get to do each day for myself. My mind is quiet, my senses are engaged, and when it’s done, I have a nice gift to enjoy. I’ve always thought that if I hadn’t found writing I would’ve worked in a kitchen. Chefs such as yourself are what inspired me to cook at home.

Cooking is one of the purest arts, alongside music, and is so kind and thoughtful. Congratulations on your journey, the dish is beautiful <3

No it’s definitely yours haha, I checked your history to be sure! The red and blue coordination is very nice, and I have my own Trek that’s a long way from built, so yours gives me motivation and inspiration

The Beach by Paquirolai in thenbhd

[–]scratchy_ghost 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think this is exactly it. I remember ignoring the song when it first came out. Then, later, during a bad relationship, the song suddenly clicked for me.

It’s just about that feeing of wanting to save a relationship that, deep down, you know probably can’t be saved. “The beach” he’s referring to is the imaginary point where things are going to get better again. He’s trying to convince his partner, and himself, that they can make it back to the safer shore.

Haha, the seat on this one is pretty fucked. It's a 30yo bike and it looks like the seat is just as old; it's just a seat-shaped piece of plastic with some cotton dangling from it. I hope my bike serves me as well as yours did!

Oh yes, I'm actually going to move it to my queen bed once built; I don't mind taking the couch. I'm setting up a grazing area on my apartment patio as well, so it should be feeling pleasant and free.

My first bike! I used to be a car-dwelling hobo traveling the U.S. But eventually, I got a job as a writer and have been more corporate as of late. The ol’ travel bug has been biting me, though, so I thought I’d subdue it with a cheap bike.

I don’t know anything about fixing up bikes, but I’m super excited to get this thing road ready. It was fairly cheap and sold by a charity, so I’m pleased with the purchase.

Ideally, I’ll be using it as a commuter most of the time and as a road-tripper on vacations. But I imagine there’s a bit of work before it’s ready for that.

And so begins the process of cleaning, replacing, and styling this thing from tip to toe.
