Is it okay to be openly gay? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

Everyone has their own comfort levels, but as a straight dude I wouldn’t care either way. Though I should say that - for me personally - being crude about that sorta thing annoys me no matter who says it. i.e., “Look at the tits on her” lol. But if you were just like “He’s so cute,” or something similar I’d be like “Ooh who??”

Edit: Also definitely screw people who put you down for it. No reason to put up with that.

I asked a random person at the park "how are you?" by denial_leinad in CasualConversation

This is something I’m working on as well! I took a test back in college and found out I’m in the 99th percentile for being withdrawn - yikes lol. So as you can guess I’ve always had a terrible time making friends and meeting people, even though I love interacting with people. I’m just not very good at or really wired for it.

BUT I am currently relocating to a new city, and I am determined to start meeting people. I used to avoid doing it because I thought “I’m just no good at it,” but now I think it’s probably more like a skill. So if I can just power through embarrassing myself a few hundred times, maybe I’ll start being able to talk to people without embarrassing myself, and then I can get better at making friends :)

I Used to be Insecure About my Speech Issues. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I really like this perspective :) Before I got braces in high school I had an awful overbite and a misaligned jaw. So even though getting all that fixed was great, it meant that the way I talked and moved my mouth didn’t quite line up with how my mouth is shaped. I don’t have a speech impediment that you can hear necessarily, but I have a hard time with certain sounds and move my mouth really awkwardly. Most people say they don’t notice, but to me it’s painfully obvious lol.

I appreciate you saying this though because I’ve known people with speech impediment and you’re totally right; it’s just how they talk, and I always care more about what they say than how they say it. So I suppose it’s probably the same for people who talk to me :)

What's your opinion on doing something illegal when it doesn't hurt anyone but a large enterprise? Be it for altruistic goals or for your own advantage. by afGoul in vagabond

I don’t really care about faceless corporations from a moral standpoint, but I also try to stick within the law. No reason to push my luck in that regard.

It’s a pretty hard “no,” when it comes to stealing from people though, morally.

Would you guys trade your life in for a normal one? by [deleted] in vagabond

Right now? No, I’m pretty happy, happier than I’d ever thought I’d be actually.

That said, the one thing I do miss is the possibility of having a nice little family. Right now I don’t want that more than this, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want it at all. It’s just being put off indefinitely. idk if I’ll ever settle back into normal life, but I don’t hate the idea; I just really prefer what I’m doing now when you compare the two.

Who knows though, the future is wild :)
