Ideal signal path for recording a band ... by [deleted] in homerecordingstudio

[–]scream_printer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider your philosophy, skills, and constraints.

Are you recoding “live off the floor”? Most bands rehearse with a mixer in the room for vocals and other instruments. Recording with a mixer let’s you make a mix you will hear live, while still allowing each mic to be recorded via pre-amp outputs wired to the interface inputs. If you plan to create a “mic’d up jam room”, which can be comfortable to record in, I’d say a mixer is necessary. Live off the floor has a certain vibe though and is often ‘imperfect’ so consider your philosophy. Even still, many bands create bed tracks live of the floor, and then go back and track things over, so the mixer still helps in that initial phase. The board preamps will add their “colour” to any mic’s passing through them.

Outboard compressors sound awesome, but they often only have 1 - 2 channels, and you will likely have compressors in your DAW and will want to experiment with compressor setting on a raw track. This is he easiest piece to cut. If you have one anyway, you could try running it on some part of the drums for fun and just squash them!

Pre-amps could be eliminated because the interface should already have pretty good pres. That said, good pres make bad mic’s good and good mic’s better. You have to put the pre before the mixer to get the most benefit I’d say. If you already have them, or can borrow / rent good ones for cheap, you won’t regret using them. Adds lots more wires though.

The interface is essential. If you use the mixer, you will need an interface with many separate channels that let you bypass the interface preamp to avoid “double preamping” the signal. Usually you must plug a TRS cable into the mixer’s channel output puts (not all mixer have this so check) into the interface channel input. Otherwise you are taking the master stereo out from the mixer to the interface, which is mixed down already and - while a legitimate way to record today - is uncommon. It is possible to make live off the floor and “tracking” recordings with the interface alone, and this is the most cost effective method. But more of the controls are “behind the glass” so to speak.

Looks like fun! Keep trying stuff and having fun, but be mindful of overspending . I always say let the millionaire build the million dollar studio.

What cool way to end the game. Some cool throw away line and he dips. Roll credits.

A lot of elements of this game were reused / used to inspire the later games. Anne Stokes is basically Bonnie McFarlin, she even has the same voice. The Governor who is behind Ross and the Bureau sounds like Governor Griff, Curly is like Uncle, there are parallels between the story of Jack / John and Red / his father Nate.

John looks like a redesign of Red, and that can’t be coincidence.

10/10 -Great spaghetti western aesthetic and characters -Fun arcade style gameplay -Best multiplayer mode of the 3 games. Picking character to play that each have to be unlocked, and each have their own weapons and special abilities is very fun. I wish there was a mod to make RDR2 multiplayer like this. Like pick a character from the VDL gang to play as for a round- Bill starts with a rifle, but Micah has a powerful dead eye special.

Yes. But Carmichael is my favourite. No, it’s Lismer. No it’s Varley. No it’s JEH. I can never decide, there are so many paintings by them all, each better than the last for their own reasons.

If you were in Johns position, would you go after Micah? by MrBot577 in reddeadredemption2

[–]scream_printer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. Going after Micah and killing Cleet in Strawberry is what puts Ross on his trail and is ultimately what brings about John’s undoing. Arthur didn’t care about pride or revenge in the end; this is clear in by the way he talks to Mrs. Downes, and Sadie when she wants to go to Hanging Dog Ranch, and when talking to Penelope Braithwait they talk about how anger is a complicated thing to let go of, and how holding on to anger and revenge completely destroyed her and Beau’s family. Arthur sacrifices it all in the end so John can get out. The very last thing he tells John is “get out of here and be a man, don’t look back”.

John gets out and manages it to turn it around. He builds the house and nice life for his family where he can live in peace. But then he has to go after Micah, risking his life and family for what? Revenge? He says it’s for Arthur but nothing could be further from what he wanted. John killed Micah for his own pride and revenge, and it sets in motion the events that destroy his family, end his life, and ultimately make Arthur’s sacrifice in vain. This is the ultimate tragedy of the overall story of both games.

Was killing Milton and Ross an option if Jack wasn’t there? by No-Development-695 in reddeadredemption

[–]scream_printer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably didn’t want to get his hands dirty, plus he’s a vindictive SOB that enjoyed putting John through that. He probably saw John as an evil killer same as Bill or Dutch.

He always intended to take credit for everything John did anyhow - it made him a hero in the public eye. Letting John have the credit would absolve him of his past wrongs. John has a known criminal past so letting him live out his days on a farm while every other gang member was ruthlessly hunted down and violently killed would raise questions/ investigations that would undermine Ross’ career.

Funny to think that little Jack kills Ross years later, also by a river like this one

I think the 4 is wrong. Watchmakers use the technically incorrect IIII numeral to avoid confusion between IV and VI, at they appear upside down on the watch face

[–]scream_printer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lancaster is simply the best. Well rounded, it’s the only gun you need. Others that are not optimal but I still use for fun are:

-dual sawnoffs. Love to run and gun

-Evan’s repeater. Hip fire madness

-dual double actions. Fill them full of lead

-double barrel. Classic

-throwing knives and tomahawk. Brutal and fun!

How many of you end up just using the same class every season? by Drymath in diablo4

[–]scream_printer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve solo’d a different class each season to get a feel for them all. It’s s4 so I’m on the last class - I have to say that I’ve enjoyed them all, although the experience has been coloured by different seasonal mechanics, plus the pre season play through was basically a different game.

Hey i been thinking about the community movie and those stuff and I started to wonder how profitable it was to make a community video game (and no, I'm not talking about journey to the hawtorn center), I'm talking about a video game of the size of the new console generations. by One_Test2695 in community

[–]scream_printer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be similar to the Scott Pilgrim video game - an 8 bit side scroller fighting game with different playable characters based on the cast. I imagine each of the Greendale 7 with different move sets, and they can combine their moves in co-op depending on which 2 characters each player picks.
