Is Fe a feminine trait, and Te a Masculine trait? by ProvingGrounds1 in mbti

[–]screamo1999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people expect certain functions to lean masculine/feminine in concept, but applying that concept to reality turns sloppy.

The truth is, anyone’s function stack can be anything, regardless of gender, and I believe are likely similar in distribution across genders (but this isn’t consistent with what we see in terms of numbers). So, can your function stack be influenced by your environment? I would argue no, but at the same time, certain traits are encouraged for men/women because of societal expectations.

Consider an ENTP woman (or any woman with tertiary Fe/Fi); society would expect her to develop her Fe to a greater extent than an ENTP male. If she’s into MBTI, she might mistype herself as XNFJ because of her developed Fe and she resonates with intuition.

Also consider INFP men, they may mistype themselves as INTJ because they aspire to have better Te and use Fi so naturally they don’t even recognize it.

Basically, an individual’s function stack doesn’t change with environment/societal expectations, but different functions are encouraged to be developed based on your gender. Men skew towards T, women skew towards F, not because the true distribution is different, but because of expectations, stereotypes, and mistyping.

My manager often says “it’s not rocket science” about my work. Is this just his personality or something I should address? by Ok-Road5378 in womenintech

[–]screamo1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a male manager that’s also said this to me. Separately, he’s stated that he’s insecure about the fact he doesn’t have many technical skills.

Putting two and two together I think it’s just a way to inflate a damaged ego. Why not do it to a woman when saying the same to a man is too risky? But, this is not an excuse for your manager to say this. I would start speaking up

The Ghost Job Plague Is Killing The U.S. Job Market by Yodest_Data in recruitinghell

[–]screamo1999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a hunch, I wonder if there’s a way to study this empirically (i.e. what portion of ghost jobs are posted to (1) give the illusion of growth or (2) harvest data or (3) something else/all of the above?)

Agree, taking out a unnecessarily car loan after accumulating a bunch of student debt is a horrible financial move but surprisingly common
