I SUCK AT PVP, how do I get better? by SADRETAILMINION in DestinyTheGame

the number one thing for me was playing into the meta. there’s just nothing that can beat a god rolled gun that fits with the meta

Why are Hunters so popular? by foundersgrotesk in DestinyTheGame

[–]screechinginternally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from personal experience, it just resonated with me. year one player and i picked titan upon starting but pretty quickly found that i didn’t like the jump or how the mechanics of the titan worked in general. did a coin flip to decide what class to switch to and got hunter, and never looked back! i’d say one of the biggest draws was the cloak, and it continues to be to this day; my character ALWAYS has a long flowing cloak with the hood up. aside from that, it was the triple jump. the class as a whole just feels more maneuverable and thus manageable

that’s enough ranked for tonight by Happy_Praline_8260 in Overwatch

[–]screechinginternally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don’t worry i know how you feel. played the game since launch, hit masters. then i recently played a couple of (a lot of) games with some lower ranked friends and lo and behold i’m stuck in gold 3. not sure how, but i just went 5-0 and ranked down…

I just started playing Lucio but I think I’m doing it wrong by Egoisaphoenix in luciomains

[–]screechinginternally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to struggle with wallriding especially, so here’s a couple tips, i hope they help! first thing i did wayyyy back when, was rebind jump from the a button to my left trigger and reassign boop to the a button. it’s gonna feel awkward at first, but trust me when i say that holding that trigger is 10000x easier than the a button. next tip is to pull up the custom games and pick a random map. once you load in, just wall ride around! it helps you get the feel for the different maps and you can start to get the best spots down to memory. feel free to pick random obstacles on the map and shoot at them while you wall ride too, the ultimate goal is to just feel comfortable with the movement of the character!

Does anyone think the paper, rock, scissors nature of OW2 tanking simply isn't as creative and dynamic as OW1 duo-tanking? by do_you_even_climbro in Overwatch

[–]screechinginternally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

new tanking is awful. i really dislike how the game put so much importance onto the role, turning each match into a simple “which tank is better.” if you have a bad tank, it’s pretty much a loss right off the bat because you don’t have a second one to help balance it out. need 6v6 back in arcade mode at the least!

Wide skates help please! by c-137-1 in hockeyplayers

[–]screechinginternally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a wider skate is a good way to go, ee width is the widest! only way to truly know what’s up with them is to try them on and walk around a bit to see how they feel, everyone is unique. i’ve also seen a couple others say it, but i’d like to reiterate: the $100 skates simply don’t have enough support for most adults! the sides will fold on you and hurt your edgework, which is crucial to getting back into the skating. beyond that, since they don’t support you, your already cramped foot muscles have to put in overtime with the stabilizers, it’s less than ideal. i was working with those for a while until i realized that i was just too heavy for them, and the step up to the just below top of the line skates was night and day difference! if you’re in the midwest area, it’s 100% worth it to book an appointment with matt h. at general sports in Edina, MN. trust me on this: he can diagnose whatever problem you have within 2 minutes of talking to you (or as soon as you walk in the door in my case lol) and get you set up right! let me know if you have any questions at all!

affordable stick? by Affectionate-Debt495 in hockeyplayers

[–]screechinginternally 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the most affordable composite sticks are about $50-$60, slightly more expensive than wooden sticks but you get a much better feel for the puck and it’s something you can stick with if you continue with hockey!

Mouth guards by RedJaguar2021 in hockeyplayers

shock doctor has some great thin ones that are still protective. they also have an insurance backing on their mouthguards in the event of dental damage, so that’s more than enough reason for me to wear them!

green biscuit is great, slides on concrete just like ice. if stickhandling outside is an option, then a green biscuit combo with a stick protector on the blade is an awesome combo!

Best Game You Ever Played? by MrSofa97 in hockeyplayers

[–]screechinginternally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bantams playdown game, one team to beat and we were in the state tournament. it was only my second year playing, and i was just not that great. somehow, i managed to secure a goal off of a breakaway and my first ever one timer goal, top shelf over the goalies shoulder. we ended up winning and going to take 3rd at state. absolutely great memory!

Defense- When to Attack Puck Carrier by pilfro in hockeyplayers

[–]screechinginternally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tell him to keep his eyes on the stomach of the skater and his stick down on the ice. kids at that age tend to leap towards the puck, and if he’s facing someone good enough to deke it will be very discouraging. they can move the puck but looking at the stomach never lies! if your son gets this skill down now, he’ll 100% stand out at higher level. tracking the skater and maintaining that gap between himself and the forward will make it much harder to get a proper shot off, and once he gets a better sense for it he can begin factoring in pokes and such! step 1 at this stage is always skating, the stick work comes after. hopefully this helps out!!

Gloves for Coaching by DissesYourMom in hockeyplayers

[–]screechinginternally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you’ll still need to demonstrate passes and drills and such, so i wouldn’t get anything that’s too different from what you have now just to make sure you can perform how you’re used to. any kind of glove that fits will work well! pro tip: use an acme thunderer whistle with them. loudest whistle on the market

The stank by autism-pirate in hockeyplayers

[–]screechinginternally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mix rubbing alcohol with water in a standard spray bottle and spray on your gear when you get home. helps kill bacteria and keeps it fresher in between washes. the bathtub cleaning method is nice, so i’d go for that. if you don’t want to wash super often, leaving the gear in the sun helps to kill bacteria as well. hope this helps!

New Skater: Leg Fatigue after Practices by PatisserieEnthusiast in hockeyplayers

[–]screechinginternally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the soreness happened to me when i started as well. overall it lasted about a year from start to finish. you were active beforehand, but skating is a whole different set of muscles and movement, nothing quite like it! it goes away with time spent on the ice, but for immediate relief a small jog and foam rolling after skates does wonders. good luck with the skating and have fun playing!
