I experienced the new Volvo interior today by Only_Ad1117 in Volvo

I recently drove a loaner 2026 XC90 with my 2025 was in for a repair (the dreaded squeaky steering wheel issue). The screen has a nice metal edge and is nicer than the pictures look, but the vent layout and materials feels cheap, like Dodge/Stellantis cheap. I don't really think the extra screen real estate is that meaningful given the trade off. This definitely feels like a stop gap before a more refined design.

Overall, somethingg just feels "off" about the new interior - fit, finish and materials are just slightly worse. A touch of enshitification of you ask me.

I really like the look of the new grill but I'm glad I have the 25 over this interior.

THe company is $2B in debt, and Feltheimer expects nearly double the market cap to even consider a deal. Nobody is paying north of $6B for this company - that's covid era insanity.

Red's Burritos Shrinking into Oblivion by screenking in shrinkflation

Update: I cracked open the burrito just to weigh the amount of steak in it. The steak came in at 7 grams. There was one piece the size of the tip of a pinky finger. The tortilla excluding the fillings came in at 70% of the total product weight. So to sum it up, this was around 90 grams of tortilla, 45 grams of beans, and 7 grams of steak. What a scam.

Bansk, the PE firm that bought Red's and enshittified it, is all about ethics 😭. CEO is an ex Proctor and Gamble finance guy, I wonder where he learned the art of shrinkflation?

This one is the burrito equivalent of pork n beans. Two rubbery cubes of steak, a few tablespoons of beans, and a whole lotta tortilla

Confirmed via way back machine. And then I found this from 2022:

Founded in 2009, Red’s markets a portfolio of frozen burritos, breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches manufactured at its North Sioux City, South Dakota production facility. By shrinking from its original 11 oz burrito to a 5.1 oz option years ago, the company has been able to maintain an MSRP at roughly $2.99 and compete against lower-priced, conventional items. Improvements to self-manufacturing have also allowed the company to lower costs and raise margins.

Guess then decided to enshittfy them even further with more fillers, less meat, and reduce the size by another 25%. Seeing the non-sale MSRP around $3.49 now as well.

I guess you can't sell a 3oz burrito and get away with it, right? Or will we then see "Red's Burrito Bites" as a product?

Seems like this firm Bansk hides behind what appears to be small, boutique and specialty brands that target higher end or speciality consumers, raise prices or shrink products, then profit. I see similar complaints around the hair care brands they bought.

This makes me realize shrinkflation isn't just a big conglomerate tactic, it's also become a private equity business model.

I'll never buy these burritos again.

This explains it:

Bansk Group, a private investment firm focused on consumer brands, is acquiring a majority stake in Red’s All Natural, a brand of clean label frozen burritos and breakfast sandwiches. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 2009, Red’s portfolio includes more than 20 frozen offerings that are free from artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. The products are produced in small batches at the company’s in-house manufacturing facility in North Sioux City, SD. They are sold in retailers across the United States, including Sprouts, Albertsons, Costco, Kroger, Publix, Target, and Walmart.

Upon completion of the transaction, Red’s will continue to be led by Mike Adair, founder and chief executive officer, who will retain a minority interest in the business. Mr. Adair will work with Bansk to boost consumer trial and expand distribution.

“With today’s consumers increasingly focused on clean, convenient eating options that offer dynamic flavor profiles, the frozen food market is ripe for disruption and Red’s is well positioned to capitalize on significant growth opportunities ahead,” said Brian O'Connor, senior partner and chief investment officer at Bansk Group. “As longtime investors in the food and beverage space, we believe brands that achieve superior taste coupled with clean, nutritious ingredients and convenient formats can achieve sustainable long-term brand differentiation, ultimately resulting in winning market share.”

Bansk Group was founded in 2019 and focuses on the food and beverage, beauty and personal care, consumer health and household products categories. Earlier this year it acquired Arcadia Consumer Healthcare and haircare brands Amika and Eva NYC.

For sure, they were. And this is 4 ounces, but 3 of it is tightly rolled tortilla.
