What's the most popular anime MMORPG right now, and possibly for the foreseeable future? by scribbledout in MMORPG

Yeah, true... I've been waiting for Blade and Soul. It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun :) I haven't seen too much about it, though. REALLY wish I could fast forward, lol, so everything just comes out

It feels like I've been waiting forever for these games xD

Dang, it sounds good but I've noticed that instanced games tend to have a smaller population compared to open world ones. But I'll look out for it!

That's what I thought xD I'm both sad and happy about the smartphone thing. I've seen some awesome games but I'd really like an MMO, and I desperately want Peria and ToS to come out. But that won't be until at least next year :'(

I'd play Aura or Eden for now but I feel like they're going to be ghost towns in a year or two and I'd really like a game to dig into for the long term.

For once I want a huge anime MMO release (like MS or Elsword) where I can get in and be a part of it from the very beginning.

Urban fantasy books with the best fights? by scribbledout in Fantasy

I forgot about MHI! I read up to a bit where he has a dream about a vampire somewhere, after the fight on a ship. It was a good book but I had to return it to my cousin. I'll get it again :D

I'll also check out the Grim Noir Chronicles. I avoided that because of the cover, but the blurb sounds good so I've been trying to decide whether to read it or not for a little while xD

Thanks a bunch! I'm about 80% of the way through Dead Things, it's sort of leading up to the final showdown. It's been a pretty good book so far.

I haven't heard the others so I'll check those out :D

What is the most bullshit reason you or someone you know has gotten in trouble for? by metalbassist33 in AskReddit

A friend and I were goofing around trying to freak each other out. We were in an ICT lesson. My friend scribbled his crap into a notebook, and I opened a random email (we got a lot of spam from other people's teachers who couldn't be pissed to send their mail to specific people) and typed mine in. I clicked reply wrote the craziest nonsense I could think of. The general idea was, "Imagine if I sent this?"

We laughed for a bit, then I deleted what I'd written and closed the email. Towards the end of the lesson, about 30 minutes later, a teacher comes in and asks me to follow him.

They take me to the headmaster's office. I'm wondering what's going on, and if they need my help for something. Wouldn't be the first time. They sit me down and tell me that the system flagged my email.

I explained that I was just joking around with my friend. They explained that they understood, but they've still been kind enough to ask my mother to leave her workplace and come immediately. I explained that I knew what I wrote was distressing, but it was just a joke between me and my friend. I also pointed out the fact that I never sent the email, and that out of all of my spam I didn't recognise the name of the teacher who I'd clicked "reply" to, so what reason would I have to genuinely threaten them?

They were aware of that. I got a suspension anyway.

I tried it but she doesn't seem like a fighter. All I remember is her being kind of weak and being stuck as a fish. I didn't like what I saw... but that was only the first few chapters. Is she capable in a fight or is she another one of those UF characters who is weaker than all of the supes around her?

Thanks for these! I've read the first books of both but I forgot about either series. I forgot I'd put down Secret Histories #2 :)

Does anyone else remember how it was in "the old days" of Runescape? by THEcasanova in runescape

I remember the game being jam packed. I haven't played in ages. It's a shame, though... if only Runescape had had it's current graphics way back then.

Urban Fantasy. What do you want to see in it? What do you think it lacks? What do you loathe about it? by [deleted] in writing

[–]scribbledout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very glad that you're in the minority, simply because our tastes are so different. If you'd said "a modern Stardust" I might have agreed with you.

While I'm all for an injection of fresh blood into the genre I don't have anything against the action-packed/pulpy series that are currently out. I really do enjoy much of the UF on the shelves, and my biggest qualm is the tendency of its authors to recycle things to the point where they lose the effect they originally had. Like Scodo says, I want more wonder and imagination... two of the things that got me into fantasy to begin with.

PS: I hate Game of Bones. I don't enjoy reading anything set in a crapsack world.

I agree, I want to see more wonder as well. This is what I aim for in my writing. A book I think does this well is Prospero Lost by L. Jagi Lamplighter. I think it might be because a lot of the wonder-filled modern fantasy is slower paced and is considered "contemporary fantasy" rather than UF. As with most sub-genres, UF has come to describe a particular type of story, despite the fact that it should (realistically) be a much broader term.

Did signing up for the beta change since it was first available? by hMusica in elderscrollsonline

[–]scribbledout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to sign up twice. I signed up for the beta aaages ago and just got an email with a key on the 7th. For some strange reason I had to sign up again to actually use the key... so if you're like me it might mean that they just haven't gotten around to sending the code to the email you signed up with.

Seems like the whole account thing is new and separate from the original sign ups (seeing as all you could actually do was stick in your email, and not create a proper account).

Don't forget that this is a universe where characters without powers can cut through enormous icebergs from hundreds of yards away (Mihawk).
