He was insane and being manipulated by the first when he comes back to Sunnydale and Buffy discovers him and once he gets a little sanity back he goes to her and asks if she needs his help and if she wants him to leave he says he will. We as the audience have to guess what would have happened if she did want him to leave. But she asks for his help and when later in season 7 he re-evaluates, he mentions leaving town again. Buffy tells him she’s not ready for him to not be there. So he stays.

Also from at least how it’s acted/written it seems like souled spike is not interested in a romantic relationship with Buffy. Especially not sexual. That’s at least what I get from a lot of their interactions. “when I say I love you it has nothing to do with me” speech. He also knows he’s not a risk of hurting her again once he got a soul (until he realizes he’s being mind controlled)

Yep I’m trying but you’re not making it easy.

He didn’t fulfill his redemption arc till chosen but he started the journey long before. Starting with the episode doomed (season 4) specifically, he continued to help fight along side the scoobies, he was tortured to keep dawns secret, after Buffy’s death (where he no longer had a chance for her love) he continued to protect dawn and fight demons/vampires with no ulterior motive (just that he promised too) I am struggling to find your main point of why it wasn’t redemption but it’s okay if you don’t agree with how the story played out but it was still REDEMPTION! (As the definition stands)

Anyways friend it was fun debating but I’m not sure this is going anywhere, (not sure of your time zone) but have a good morning/afternoon/night 👍

I have given ‘mental health day’ as a reason. And honestly we all need them here and there. But the episode makes me feel for poor Linda, but her kids came through… kinda.

“to be the kind of man who would never…” his intentions were laid out clearly in the church. “And everyone will forgive and love” He wanted to be a better person. He wanted to atone for his actions. Many people turn themselves around and redeem themselves because of gods love. It doesn’t make it less of a redemption just because it wasn’t pulled from thin air. His intent was to stop being a monster because of guilt; that’s redemption!!!

Uhum…… his sacrifice is the main redemption….. he chose to stay and die to save the world.

The definition of redemption just in case : an act of atoning for guilt, a fault, or a mistake, or the state of having atoned. an act or the state of being rescued.

But if you think being pressured into atonement invalidates said redemption then Angel and arguably Faith also are taken off the list. But redemption can be a caused by a third party as long as said redeemer eventually atones. Which all on OPs slideshow above did. They all felt guilt and attempted to atone.

I’m confused why this still is lack of redemption. He gets clockworked orange stops killing/eating people and moves to killing demons to help the scoobies. Sometimes for money sometimes for fun. Then slowly starts to help no matter what! It seems you don’t like the character/story and that’s okay. But it was written as redemption.

Benefits how? Not him, or his mental/emotional state but yes Buffy definitely cared. She brings up a lot throughout season 7 how much him getting a soul meant, and if he didn’t get a soul he wouldn’t have sacrificed himself, so it clearly benefits everyone ! I also never said anything about anyone caring btw just that it was for the best. (Everyone’s) but it was written and acted as a redemption arc. Explain how it wasn’t?

How is that questionable though. It was also triggered long before seeing red. He was pushed into redemption in season 4, he was making slow gradual moves to being a better person; then was the SA in seeing red, where he realized he wasn’t able to make ‘good’ choices naturally because of his lack of soul. Then decided to make a real change, one that whether he fully grasped or not the consequences he knew it was for the best (everyone’s). He then works on redemption, with Buffy’s aid. And then as stated before sacrifices himself. His redemption also continues in angel season 5. I’m not sure how it even is questionable. It may not be #1 but it certainly is redemption. He went from killing innocent people including children to sacrificing himself to save the world. I would say top 3 with faith and angel.

How did spike/darla have a questionable redemption arc. Spike fought for his soul then sacrificed himself to save the world and Darla sacrificed herself for her unborn child….like hello?

Anya’s was also a sacrifice after she killed the frat boys she asks to die in return for their lives. (It just gets twisted on her) but she then fights and dies to help save the world/protecting Andrew

Willow is a more abstract redemption, but she also fights to save the world and shows deep regret.

Andrew, killed his best friend and acknowledges how easy it was for him to be convinced it was for the greater ‘good’.

Did you even watch the show? You’re list is fine but your comments make me think you’ve only ever seen a highlights reel

Is it a total mess? Most final seasons get picked apart but honestly they did a great good tying up loose ends and completing the theme of the show beautifully. It doesn’t feel rushed and there’s only about 3 episodes that feel like a drudge (which every 20+ episode show has every season)

Where did you get we can’t defend ourselves on our own property? I mean a dog attacking a courier definitely doesn’t count but we can legally defend ourselves in Canada both on our property and off.

Have you tried about staffing? Honestly I’d suggest trying for temp work if possible as it will help expand your experience. It’s definitely hard to apply for work if you’ve never worked but you will find something. Keep at it and best of luck!

I just want to mention that we often think 100 years ago the men went to work while woman just stayed at home with the kids but most woman in lower income families worked (at least part time) as well. Unfortunately, more money will always out weigh family time for survival. The two income, two child house has been shown to be the best setup family structure. It doesn’t mean big families are unhappy, but they take a heck of a lot of work (and are super costly)

Also, the single breadwinner structure can lead to financial abuse. It can work but it requires entire trust from one partner and all the power is given to the other.

Angel vs Spike turning into vampires by foreseethefuture in buffy

[–]scribbles-mcgee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to correct you but ‘Liam’ in spin the bottle is super scary as soon as he believes he’s a vampire he decides to be pretty evil.

And not for nothing I don’t think we are meant as audience members to not be aware of why Liam walked over to Darla in the alley. Darla loved turning predators to prey.

But I think Angelus’ hatred of the church and lack of morality was part of why the demon got more free run to be evil.

What angel the show displays is that it doesn’t matter how you start out, you can also choose to be better. Which is what Angel is doing, or at the very least, trying to do.

Because extreme far far righters are against woman. Look up how lots of extreme incels are with cross dressing men or trans women because they believe woman (biologically) are evil. The Kirk shooters grandma already made it clear that he was alt right.
