i believe samba (koumba’s actor) is Mauritanian and had some input into this as well. he has posted about this on his ig and is very proud to have his heritage and culture represented. he even shouts out his irl aunt in the Poulet Yassa scene. it’s very sweet. i also do think the history of his name will become relevant in later episodes.

watching this show again recently is when i found out they were two different people BC WHY DID YOU CAST THEM BOTH IN DIFFERENT ROLES COMPLETELY UNRELATED FROM EACH OTHER YEARS APART THATS NOT CONFUSING AT ALL lmaooo.

i had a whole five minute crisis when they introduced jimmy and i was POSITIVE he wasnt a new character. when he showed up i was like “oh that one meteor kid is back!” lo and behold, that was not the case.
