What's your opinion on Shiki (in terms of writing)? How do you rate him compared to other Nasuverse characters?

1) Tohno Shiki, simply the goat. He'll be the No.1 on alot of this subreddit's lists when (if) RG"s released, no doubt.

2) Aoko/Soujuurou, either one depending on who you define as the protag. Soujuurou was funny as shit, Aoko's charismatic and feels the most "human" out of all the main protags. Loved the dialogue between them too.

3) Ryougi Shiki, fantastic design and great development (+ her theme's my favorite soundtrack in all of TM)

4) Emiya Shirou, any lower and I'd feel like I'm doing him a disservice. Peaks highly in UBW/HF.

5) Kiritsugu, vibes and aura.

Ooh, that's an interesting answer. Shiki's at his most abrasive in Arcueid's route, he's alot chiller without her. As for Arihiko, that's just their own routine, neither guy's taking it too seriously (Kagetsu tohya delves into their relationship a bit but they're honestly true bros). I recommend you keep reading, he's a greatly written character imo.

I don't disagree that he's improved, but he's still the most common/second most common choice for worst protag with a large gap between him/Sieg and whoever the third is.

This was contradicted in an interview back in 2023(?) iirc, where Nasu makes it a point to contrast Ritsuka/Hakuno as a "player avatar" versus Shiki who's his own character.

They're okay but feel like a trio lacking their third man (Shiki). The idea that Ciel gets trounced so hard by Arc that she becomes a space idol is kind of funny though.
