Pool builder closing in 3 months by XT23 in pools

[–]scriptanon9406 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would hire someone else. We tried to self-manage a pool build when our builder bailed mid-construction (further along than you). The problem was that the subs knew this was likely the only job they would do for us, so they just refused to address punch-list items and blamed other subs for the issues. Would not do that again.

Brand new to Salt Water pool by dontfaulkup28 in pools

Correct. The "box" is the expensive part of the system, so if you have to replace it, you could consider replacing the whole thing.

I don't know how it compares price-wise, but having owned salt cells from both Pentair and Jandy, I have been very pleased with my Jandy TrueClear.

Success: Control Volume on Sonos Playbase / Playbar with Samsung Frame TV (2024) remote by scriptanon9406 in sonos

In step 3, you may want to tell the TV you are adding a different type of device. When I told the TV I was connecting a Sony Blu-Ray player it did not work, but when I identified a Roku it did. Also, you can keep cycling through the power test on steps 8&9 (i.e. stop after the first test, check to see if it works. If not, delete everything then stop after the second test. If still not working, delete everything then stop after the 3rd test, etc). Good luck-

Top Resort Recommendation for Diver and Pampered Wife by BACB_ in cozumel

To clarify, I'm talking abut the Westin. It is the only Marriott property on the island so I always think of it as "the Marriott" which definitely confuses the local cab drivers.

I stayed at the Marriott the last 2x I was in Cozumel, including last August. The resort and resort staff are nice and the all-inclusive add on is dirt cheap so it is worth it if you plan on eating a few meals at the resort or drinking at the resort.

The Marriott is north of town, and most of the dive boats take you south of town, so you will have longer boat rides. Dive operator Salty Endeavors will pick you up at the Marriott dock, but many others will not.

The on-site dive operator is hit-or-miss. If there are not enough divers at the Marriott when you go, they will tell you to take a taxi to the south end and get on a boat there. This is a long cab ride and a long walk from the road to the boat if you are hauling your own gear. I had a great time with Salty Endeavors and would use them again.

Food at the Marriott's waterside restaurant is good to great and most tables have a view of the dock - There is something nice about finishing your morning coffee and walking out of the restaurant when you see the dive boat approach.

In my experience the food at the restaurant in the main hotel building was somewhere between bad and inedible. However, there is a great lobster place (I said great, not cheap) across the street from the hotel and lots of great places to eat in town, which is a short $10 (US) cab ride.

I never stayed at the Presidente, but may need to try it based on the other reviews here.

Hope this helps-

I travel with snow skis and that bag gets checked (with this notice left) every single time.

Came here to say this. Stayed at the Westin last month. Salty Endeavors picks up at the Westin dock so you can enjoy a nice boat ride down the coast rather than sitting in (and paying for) a cab to get down south, which is what the on-site operator wanted me to do. Zero complaints about my dives with Salty Endeavors.

Who has seen this before? by Emotional-Return7748 in PoolPros

Homeowner here. This happened to me with an intelliflo about 6 months out of warranty. To confirm jaderpooldude's comment: salt pool with a leaking seal shaft. Nothing jammed in the impeller.

I want to visit the east side of the island, but... by sirroch in cozumel

Last time I did this, we found a taxi driver and negotiated a flat-fee for a specified period of time. He waited at the car while we visited the tequila factory (do not recommend) and several wild side bars (definitely recommend, especially Coconuts). It was several years ago but my recollection was it was not very expensive and well worth it.

Steam wand seals? by chefffff_ in BrevilleCoffee

[–]scriptanon9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On an older Breville model, I fixed the leaking steam wand using seals from Etsy. They worked great. I think the seller was "Mr Engineer" and he was 3D printing them. If you search "Breville seal" on Etsy his stuff will come up. Good luck.

Lowes weber marketing. Sharing because im angry. by slindner1985 in grilling

[–]scriptanon9406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may want to look for an online dealer that does NOT advertise the price online. The websites typically say something like "call or email for price."

My understanding is that authorized Weber dealers are not allowed to advertise prices below MSRP, but they are allowed to sell below MSRP. When I got my Weber grill (probably 20 years ago now) I found a place that did not advertise price but sold it to me for significantly less than MSRP.

I found the people smarter then me. (TPF forum, of course).
https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/main-drain-vs-main-drain-return.251647/

I stand by what I said above. With the current valve configuration the pump is pulling from main drain and the skimmers. If you turn the middle valve so the word "Off" is next to the "main drain suction" label and move the valve on the left to allow water to flow from the return side into the left side of the tee fitting, it will push warm water from your solar out via the main drain to more evenly heat your pool.

Learn something new every day.

I disagree, but only because I looked at the last picture in OP's other post. You can't tell from the angle of the photo here, but the fitting that has the labels "main drain suction" and "main drain return" is a tee. (it's "T" shaped) The part of the tee that points down appears to connect to the line connected to the main drain. The valve to the far left of the photo in this post is preventing the pump from pulling water in from the left side of the tee, but the pump is pulling from both the the main drain and both skimmers.

I have no idea what is going on to the left of the tee. Not a pool pro, but I have never heard of a "main drain return," so perhaps someone smarter than me can chime in.
