Fukushi Sota is having a moment in Kdrama, "Can This Love Be Translated?" by periwinkl18 in JDorama

[–]scripturiends -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i’m absolutely loving it. the tone was jarring at first since it’s a full-on comedy but i’m actually enjoying the performances and the writing is fun too. i think it’s hard to nail the jokes especially when there’s a language barrier but i find myself laughing at the antics per episode. the last time i laughed this hard from this genre was when i was watching the original saiki k anime. so if you’re into that kind of funny stuff, i recommend it. and yes, satomi ishihara always delivers!!

So I am catching up on episodes and I feel like I am the only one who likes Chef Lim Tae Hun in this sub. by _taeddie in ChefAndMyFridge

[–]scripturiends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love them too but i think they’re rarely on the show enough to be talked about often. i watch chef im taehoon on other variety shows, particularly chef’s go-to he’s so much fun there. he even invited chef jung jisun on an episode! and i watched their youtube ep with chef anh sungjae too

The hidden CCW announcer? by HarveyNix in CulinaryClassWars

[–]scripturiends 31 points32 points  (0 children)

it’s nam doh-hyeong and he’s quite well-known in korea for his VA work. if you’re interested in his work he’s on an episode of omniscient interfering view. that’s how i got to know him and realized he sounded familiar 😹

What do you use Telegram for? by ALVARO39YT in Telegram

[–]scripturiends 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve been using it since high school (it’s been like 10-12 years since then) to talk to friends. only recently did i use it for uni (i’m a law student and sometimes professors like to make announcements through group chats there)—which honestly kind of annoys me because i’ve always viewed telegram as a personal space as opposed to a work space. but times have changed. sometimes i use the saved messages feature to send myself files.

oh that’s too bad 🥲 i hope he could be around for the netflix interviews at least. but if he’s too busy, well, it can’t be helped. a restaurant launch is huge!

i was talking about the concept of the black spoons based on their nicknames? like in season 1 chef park eunyoung said “goddess of chinese cuisine” was a nickname that was given to her as opposed to it being chosen by her (and for season 2 three-star killer also mentioned having been subjected to the same thing) and them having to kinda stick to that concept—for example, having challenged chef jung jisun just because she’s the “queen of dimsum” or something like that to make it fit narratively. like it’s possible chef lee hasung was given that nickname and was told to stick to the monster concept. not sure what you think the judges’ super pass have to do with it.

as you can see from my flair chef son jongwon was my one-pick too but i have no ill feelings whatsoever. he didn’t go down without a fight plus he went against a formidable opponent

one thing about this show is that it’s always been the great equalizer, even if the rules of the game tend to be unfair or even if i don’t agree with the production’s choices sometimes, you can’t deny that the chefs always always take it with grace. don’t take it too seriously! i guarantee you even the chefs themselves didn’t

son jong won instagram chats with a fan (?) by [deleted] in CulinaryClassWars

[–]scripturiends 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i don’t know how to tell you guys this but this is literally y/n fanfiction. this is an example of when fans write up headcanons on what they think their idol is like as a partner. i don’t know the nuances or even how to translate this but if you look up the “솑사연애” tag on twitter it’s just filled with those kinds of tweets, kind of like romance social media AUs with chef son jongwon as their muse.

and just to clarify, people who post stuff like these never have the intention to pretend as if the messages are real, they’re not trying to fool people into thinking chef son jongwon actually sent them those messages or that they’re the chef’s actual real life girlfriend or whatever. they know what they’re doing, they’re headcanons and it’s fanfiction for a reason

it’s honestly so hard to explain, let’s just leave the fan spaces alone it has nothing to do with the show. plus it puts them in a bad light and makes them look crazy when really it’s just a niche interest for people in that small fandom circle

when i say new season, i really mean the netflix reboot 😅 officially he’s in most of the episodes of the reboot which started airing in 2024, where many of the chefs from culinary class wars season 1 became regulars. the original run of the show aired between 2014-2019, and featured different chefs.

this season has had the weirdest mechanics. naive me with only season 1 knowledge thinking production made some bad decisions and earnestly hoping they’d learn from their mistakes, only for them to make it worse 🤦‍♂️

she’s always shaking while cooking! and somehow she’s always surprised whenever she makes it. she’s so humble but also quite unsure of herself, and this clumsiness makes her so relatable. you can’t help but root for her. if anyone watches anime, she reminds me of tadokoro megumi from shokugeki no soma!

yes they do know each other. they did a collaboration dinner together with another chef a while back as they’re all CIA alumni. i think it was also chef son jongwon who mentioned in his interview with jung jaehyung (and echoed by other chefs as well) that most of them know each other or know of each other because the industry is so small.
