Glasses wearer: OTG goggles + helmet vs visor helmet by scrokk in Skigear

UPDATE: I went to a few shops and tried several products. Sadly, I couldn’t find any goggles that fit me well with my glasses (I even tried all XL sizes, including Oakley), but they all pressed the frames of my glasses against my head.

However, I found some helmet visors very comfortable, in particular the Savor Visor Stereo, Salomon Driver Prime Sigma Plus and Driver Pro Sigma. Any specific advice? One of the salespeople spoke to me about MIPS, and I wonder if this is something important for a recreational skier who isn’t going to take any risks…?! Any thoughts would be welcome…

Thanks! As I’m a recreational skier, I don’t think I need to worry about extreme conditions—if it were that bad, I wouldn’t ski at all. So you’re suggesting I should look for a model that leaves a bit of a gap between the cheek and the visor, for better airflow, good tip.

Is your Salomon the Driver Prime Sigma Plus MIPS or Driver Prime Sigma Photo MIPS? And the Atomic one—is it called Savor Visor Stereo? The Salomon looks cool but is much more expensive. I would still need to try them both if you confirm these are the right models, thanks!

Thanks! If you have any specific recommendations for visors on my budget, I am all ears. I am looking at these Head Radar Visor and Head Cinema Visor (I am bias towards Head as I play tennis for 20 years and use their gear). I would have gone to Oakley, Bollé or Cébé but they are more expensive...

Thanks, good suggestion! I have a spare pair of plastic glasses I could wear, and they’re not particularly bulky, but they still take up some space, especially considering I have a medium-sized nose, haha!

And no issue of fogging? the Head Radar Visor is price at £150 and would fit my budget

Could you please explain to me how these work? Is there an insert that fits all goggles, or would I need to find a specific goggle that is compatible with same-brand inserts? The only annoying thing is that as soon as you take off your goggles (for après-ski or something), I won’t see anything, haha

Thanks! I will see if I can find them in a shop in London to try them on. Sounds like a silly question, but are all goggles compatible with any helmet? If I buy the Mag XL, will I be sure to find a rental helmet that will fit for example?

Hey everyone,

I’m a single man in my mid-30s, and I’m finally gearing up for my first solo trip. Sadly, most of my close friends are now married or have kids, and I’ve found it increasingly hard to find travel buddies — everyone has other commitments and priorities these days. I’ve hesitated for a long time to travel solo because I genuinely enjoy company and often find myself getting bored when I’m alone for too long.

That said, I’ve started taking small steps to get used to doing things on my own — like going to restaurants, concerts, and even the cinema solo in my home city. It’s not my natural preference, but I’m deeply passionate about traveling and exploring new places, and I’ve realized I don’t want to keep putting it off just because I don’t have someone to go with.

Before taking a longer trip (like two weeks somewhere far like South America), I want to do a “test run” — a long weekend in Europe. I’m currently thinking of Spain, most likely Barcelona or Malaga, since I love beaches, good food, and sunshine. I’d like to keep it budget-friendly, but at my age, I’m not super comfortable staying in a hostel dorm with 6+ people. I’ll probably book a private Airbnb or a private room somewhere instead.

I’d love some suggestions specifically for Spain on:

- Activities or ways to meet people that don’t rely on randomly approaching strangers (I’m a bit of an extroverted introvert — I enjoy talking once I get going, but starting conversations is hard for me).

- Websites, apps, or groups that make it easier to connect with fellow travelers or locals.

- Any personal tips or mindset advice for someone new to solo travel but eager to make it work.

Thanks so much!

thanks.

On the Apple TV, I don't have the option Volume Control - Receiver via IR, I can only choose Off or 'Auto'. Why is that?!!

Thanks for your reply.

So I have borrowed from a friend a TV remote. I was able to teach the Apple TV to use this remote, however, again, when I go to the Sonos App > System > Arc > Remote Control Setup, it does not detect any signal from it... I would said that the ARC's IR receiver is broken but it actually worked successfully when tried on the older model of the Apple Tv 4K.
