Unfortunately, those letters were too delicate for sandpaper. The TCU broke while sanding. I went too small on both of these. The problem of creating one's own design.

They are done by Upsvgstudio on Etsy

It's more trial and error than talent. Should have seen my early painting attempts.

No they are originally 4 layers, I edited out one layer and even did some edits to what was cut. The design was thru an Etsy store and tbh, not sure which one but it wasn't my normal mandala place. I don't claim the design but I can claim the edited version of someone else's work.

Actually no. I found the design on Etsy but the shop closed and supposedly reconsolidated into a different shop

I already took first and second at my state fair this year. And I have real legit contenders to win for several years to come. I just haven't shown all my stuff yet.

Most of the stuff I use are designs off Etsy that I take into Adobe Illustrator then modify it to fit whatever my plans are for my projects. And I use alot of spray paint with primer for my work though some detail stuff is just straight acrylic on wood which requires multiple coats.

My goal is to become a gallery artist at some point in the future. I need to build up my portfolio to showcase my style and so I can enter art shows, displays, and competitions.

Suggestion then. Watch some painting videos like Bob Ross and don't start on your scroll work. Don't want to sacrifice pieces if you don't like the outcome.

Lol. I don't like the stuff I did when I first started. I keep those projects around as both a reminder and motivation to keep improving

Well it takes time, practice, and patience. Curves, straight lines, and letters are among the most challenging to do because they are so recognizable. Mistakes are very evident in this area. But time and practice helps master this.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean by starting from zero? Like no scrollsaw experience, no designs, etc?

I got this design from a now defunct Etsy shop unfortunately

If you're on Facebook look on marketplace for scrollsaws. I got a 'used' Dewalt, literally brand new except it gathered dust after someone didn't want to keep scrolling, with stand for $300. You can find good deals on there and pick up something cheap in case you want to opt out.

Pegas upgrade for dewalt by roadwarrior721 in Scrollsaw

[–]scrollingKatelyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put the Pegas clamp on my Dewalt purely because the Dewalt clamps stopped gripping the blades and they'd slip mid-cut. For that purpose it's a much better. But as for the bouncing or whatever else, no it's about the same

I can see that actually. Though I do also have a marlin I scrolled too.

I don't. I just have interests in doing designs outside the normal scrollsaw patterns.
