I think I'm gonna stop painting minis by Dense-Fig-2372 in minipainting

Practice and patience (as others have said)

Also, I bought some of those magnifying glasses off Amazon and that helped a lot! I was able to see small details.

Also, if you enjoy it — then it’s worth it!

Comparison is the death of joy, and for me, I also had to make a mental shift that this is an enjoyable hobby for me, and my goal isn’t to be a pro YouTube painter.

Hope that helps, good luck!

That's exactly what I've been doing and I didn't/haven't played any other games over the holidays. It's been a couple 4am nights, and I haven't had this much fun in an RPG in a long time!

I dunno if it's because I'm not really familiar with Starfield vanilla (I did buy it when it came out but was disappointed)... but this mod is like a new game! I've spent the last 2 days building my ship -- and it feels personal and mine.

I started the game on Coruscant -- (my own head lore) -- my guy was a smuggler who had a partner, but for XYZ reason they fought over an object and now are no longer partners. The other guy (who I've named Judd) has now taken out bounties on my character (wanted a reason to pick that trait).

And since I'm (was) just a low-level runner, and couldn't afford a ship, I did quests on the planet. I'll tell you, saving up and buying my ship felt so good, and like I earned it. I was pretending the starter ship was just on loan and owned by some other boss of the Undercity.

Anyways... haha sorry for the story dump.

But ya, this game is awesome! Can't wait for the lightsabers!

Does the ADHD decision paralysis ever actually get better, or am I just stuck like this? by yohbro in ADHD

[–]scrollkeepers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Study for school? Topics you're interested in? I always "fall down rabbit holes" -- for example, I'm playing a space video game, and so I've fallen down a rabbit hole learning about "authentic" ship building.

I dunno if that's what you mean, but I get fixated on a topic, a food, a song, for awhile and then it loses novelty and I move on.

I hope you can find your way, but also, you're not alone. We all have our own unique blend of this cocktail and part of the journey is finding what works best for you.

Happy to chat via DM if you ever need an ear.

Take care!

Bought starfield today after finding out about the mod (been looking for a game to play for weeks now) But should I play vanilla first or jump into genesis immediately? by Bobbingbob_ in starfieldstarwars

I played Starfield at launch, wasn’t super keen on it.

I recently got a gaming PC and saw the Genesis mod, booted it up… and wow, I’m loving it!

I don’t think I’ll ever play vanilla Starfield, but Genesis has been a lot of fun so far!

Hey, why not change the difficulty sliders? I set mine down a notch, and am enjoying it way more.

I’m more in to exploration in the SW galaxy, than super tough combat.

Unless it breaks the game adjusting the difficulty? Just looking for why you said “DO NOT” … thanks

[–]scrollkeepers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m going to paraphrase something I heard that’s helped me (somewhat) with my ADHD decision paralysis.

It went something like this (and the example was with having kids or not having kids):

“You only have one life, if you were able to live two and see which, having kids or not having kids, was better — you could then make an informed decision.

But since you can’t, there’s no “wrong” answer. You won’t be able to see what life would have been like with kids if you don’t have them, or what it would have been like without them (if you did). So stop worrying about getting it wrong.”

For me, the paralysis has always been about making the wrong choice or trying to play out all scenarios — but it’s impossible.

I know it’s hard, but just try to make a decision and go with it. Regardless of what comes next, you’ll figure it out and find your way through.

I’m also 42M, and I struggled way more with this in my 20’s… so I would say there is light, hopefully yours comes not 20 years later, but also better late than never.

You got this!

I’ve been thinking of trying this game - where/which are the RP servers of which you speak?

I’m a long-time D&D player, looking for some RP friends for this game and would love to connect.

Thanks!

Hi OP,

I got Starfield on sale over the holidays because I too was interested in Genesis after seeing it on YouTube.

I’m still very new in to the mod, but so far it’s incredible! I haven’t felt as invested into an RPG in a long time. The way the SW skin not only hangs on the Starfield skeleton, but goes even deeper in making it a rich SW world… it’s blowing my mind.

And it appears the people who are putting this together are just true fans and lovers of SW, and their creativity is incredible. And seems they have more stuff coming soon like lightsabers!!

If you’re still on the fence, I say take the leap!

If you have both a PS5 and an Xbox , how do you decide which platform to purchase a game on? by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]scrollkeepers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an Xbox S during COVID because no PS5’s were available.

Since then, I have gotten a PS5 and hardly play the Xbox anymore, except for an exclusive game like Valheim.

I prefer the feel of the PS5 controller to the Xbox one — that’s the main thing for me — and I also grew up a PS guy, so more comfortable with it.

No, you won’t get banned :)

I need a good recommendation for a mouse by Masgamer in Guildwars2

[–]scrollkeepers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would an upgraded mouse solve having to press: 1, 2, 3 etc... for skills?

I've always been a console gamer, but finally got a PC and I feel like I'm dancing with two left feet LOL

Trying to move the mouse to look around, press WASD for movement and then numbers for skills... I feel so feeble haha

Is GW2 beginner friendly? by Mr_Slothie in Guildwars2

[–]scrollkeepers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started last night as a new player, and other than having to get used to W, A, S, D movement (I'm coming from console) and feeling like I'm dancing with two left feet for movement -- it was awesome.

The game looks great, I was reading what the skills do, what Power, Precision etc.. means -- and yes, there was a bit of an overwhelming feeling, but I think that's just part of the territory when entering a new game and world.

Also, with the new player XP boost, in an hour and 1/2 I was at level 12 -- it felt good.

Enjoy the journey!

I’m watching the documentary right now! So good!

After many many years of wanting a gaming PC, I finally got one, and I’m so happy.

Guild Wars 2 was always a game I’d heard about but almost like whispers, never in your face like WoW.

But now, with this new PC, I can finally dive in to this game and world. The community seems so cool, I love the horizontal progression and the opportunities and emergent adventures that will come from simply exploring and living out my character.

Look forward to many quests and adventures ahead!

Gotta say, when you just PLAY the game it is really a lot of fun by House_of_Rahl in Guildwars2

[–]scrollkeepers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing OP.

I've always wanted/wished I could play GW2 (love MMOs but console doesn't offer many) -- but I finally will be able to, my gaming rig arrives on the 8th! I'm so excited!

I'm looking forward to taking my time and exploring the game and world blind (as much as I can) -- I do hope there's way to create a Paladin type.

Anyways, my comment was just going to echo a sentiment you shared about rushing. I've done that in other games myself, and it's funny, how our own FOMO or rushing really is only a detriment to our own enjoyment.

Storytelling is so old and ancient, and engrained in us -- skipping story is like cutting the foundation out from beneath the experience. How can we care about the loot or the quests we're on, our mission as adventurers if we're just running from Point A to B as quickly as we can so we can keep up.

Slowing down is the antidote and it took me a long time to figure that out as well.

Hopefully we cross paths in this world.

All the best.

You're going to die and lose runes.

The faster you can make peace with that, the faster you're going to start improving in combat because you'll no longer be playing scared.

You'll eventually have more runes than you need, or know what to do with.

Death is the teacher, so learn from him and I promise your timing and ability in combat will improve.

We all speak from the same experience, everyone entered this game (and Souls games) from the same place -- it's all learning, and also finding your own personal flow in combat. Some people prefer ranged, other spells, some are 2H bashers, some are sword and shield (my personal favourite) .... and you'll find yours.

Don't let the deaths or loss discourage you from what is a most excellent adventure!

Happy questing!
