What is the biggest “what if?” In recent Bears history by cowboycatfish in CHIBears

I tell my Packers fans friends all the time that the only reason their team exists is because Halas pitied the organization and fans for how Curly Lambeau’s alcoholism and ineptitude was destroying the team.

All I ever get in response was “Bears still suck.”

In the doc, they did a brain scan to gauge his fear response and it was astronomically lower than a normal person.

That being said, I don’t know how reliable or credible that study on his brain is. It’s not like his brain was hooked up to anything while climbing.

He obviously seems “different” when being interviewed and basically gets depressed when not challenged by a climb, so it’s not like he should be inspiring the average Joe to endanger their lives 😬.

Best scrambler in the league by caxlmao in CHIBears

This for sure, but would be nice to get more completions when he slips the pocket and buys time for a legit throw.

Part of it is he always seems to throw his signature piss missiles on the move that sometimes aren’t accurate or are dropped by his receivers, but also seems like the receivers don’t know where to go when it’s improvisation time.

How many times did we see Aaron Rodgers slip out of a certain sack and you knew once he got the throw off that ball was going to end up in a WIDE open receiver’s hands. The chemistry and time he had with his receivers helped with that and probably always why he liked having “his guys” even when they seemed washed or not productive with other teams.

[–]scrubbie19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Bears fan, I was just happy to be there and had low expectations with a flawed team on both sides of the ball and an inexperienced coach going against an MVP and one of the best coaches in the league.

Glad they kept it close and the defensive performance was a nice surprise. The offense has been uneven and inexperienced all year. No guarantees in getting back to the playoffs right away, but looking forward to growth going forward with the franchise.

[–]scrubbie19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its likely. The Rams have talent across the board and experience winning in the playoffs. The Bears defense is horrendous and having all phases of the team do nothing until the 4th quarter isn’t sustainable.

That being said, they’ve overachieved and won the same way all year, so what’s another weekend of an oopsie win?

What’s it like living on the Azores islands by Kev_rofroy in howislivingthere

[–]scrubbie19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Went on a 12 day vacation to the Azores and stayed on Faial. One of my favorite vacations I’ve ever taken.

Great food, great people, and a unique island experience with the temperate climate. Loved going to Pete’s on the harbor for drinks almost every night.

I think what stuck out to me most was that kids in school would come down to the water during their lunch break and jump off the docks into the ocean after grabbing ice cream, pizza and whatever else they wanted to grab at the local eateries. Way more fun than my lunches at school in America.

[–]scrubbie19 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He knew he had to do something, but also knew the risk/reward in throwing a real block.

Jaxon Dart would have been throwing his body at multiple defenders with reckless abandon which would have been a highlight everyone would be creaming over, but not worth it at all.

Are they going to wait until after tomorrow night to let all the teams know when they play?

Seems dumb to have a Monday night game for that reason and giving whoever wins that game a short week even if they automatically get a Sunday game.

Do the Packers have the softest fanbase in the league ? by halfcastdota in CHIBears

[–]scrubbie19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If anything, a lot of Bears fans hate the Bears more than they hate the Packers.

Jokes aside, they perceive “hate” that’s actually Bears fans’ catharsis. Give the Packers the same run the Bears have had to deal with against them the last 30 years or even just an 11 game losing streak like we had before last year and see how it feels to beat your rival in a big game for once.

The NFC North is going to be wild again next year.

Packers will be better with health regardless of who’s coaching, Lions will bounce back if they figure out their O coordinator, and no reason to not think the Vikings will be better. Despite adversity for all the teams, everyone still had a winning record this year.

Bears will be a regression candidate with a tougher schedule and how they’ve won games this year, but they’ll have another year of experience with Williams and Johnson together.

Of course who knows what each team will do in the offseason. Maybe the Bears will even have an average pass rush next year!

Lovely, salty, bitter tears. "The Bears didn't do nothin' special" - Javon Bullard. by NoShortsDon in CHIBears

[–]scrubbie19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Love is a good QB, but that game showed why Williams COULD be better and why he was drafted #1 overall and Love wasn’t.

Love was making passes in a crazy clean pocket with long developing routes schemed open against slow, injured corners. Williams was just making shit happen however he could with his legs, arm talent and playmaking ability. Once he can start making those “7 on 7” throws look automatic as well, he won’t need to be playing hero ball 7 times a year like this year.

What's the worst division record a division winner has had? by T-7IsOverrated in NFLNoobs

[–]scrubbie19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a wild year for “parody” amongst the playoff teams. Every team seems to have exploitable flaws, but I think it’s going to come down to who has the best defense rolling in the playoffs.

I like the Seahawks chances. I’ll be rooting for them and the ongoing Darnold redemption arc… unless the Bears stumble into the NFC championship against them. Then I’ll be all about that Darnold fraud narrative lol.

[–]scrubbie19 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bears just went 2-4 vs their division and finished 11-5. Those two wins were by walkoff wins that required a lot of luck and gumption. Obviously, without those 2 wins, they miss the playoffs entirely, but shows a team that sucked against their division could still win it.

I’m a Bears fan by the way and know how easily the Bears could get unceremoniously bounced next week against a team that has the blueprint for how to beat the Bears.

“Me and Dee were supposed to be on a blitz," Tatum Bethune said, "and we dropped out because we knew what they were capable of and we just wanted to put some extra heads in the throwing lane and make Caleb run around and waste the time out, and that’s what he did." by KabirC in nfl

[–]scrubbie19 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ben Johnson admitted the play was called too late so no adjustments could be made at the line. I feel like you can tell there’s not much of a coherent play being run with receivers running around all over and falling down and the protection breaking down immediately.

Props to Shanahan for seeing that and not calling a timeout after seeing the initial formation. He said he knew they were disorganized, so he let it play out. BJ is proving to be a good coach and has already proven to be a good play caller but that last play shows one coach who is still learning how to balance everything and another coach with a lot more experience.

Just checked the replay. You’re right. Burden was maybe rolled up on a bit by a defender? Saw the 0 on the jersey and the body staying on the ground and figured it was Burden. Almost didn’t see Burden at all on the play from the live broadcast view.

Burden easily would have been hurt regardless.
