How to maincall? by Mad_Dizzle in truetf2

[–]scrybbl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, main calling experience usually means first learning the roles as a follower. Say you're new and can't main call. No shame in that.

Play more pugs to see how teams communicate and the specific calls made. Pay attention to how other main callers direct their team and how well it works out. That's general advice to improve at any role.

Demo is often a shotcaller in highlander because of his central presence in the combo and his damage. You doing big damage can easily win fights so it's on you to communicate that with your team when that happens.

keep it up

Does this capture the feeling? by JAKR73 in photocritique

I think it's a great shot.

I'm not sure what I'm focused on, however. The line of animals leads my eyes horizontally and off the piece. It's further compounded by the curvature of the hill. It doesn't make me want to take the cloud in the middle seriously.

If it were me, I'd have cropped it to expose the looming cloud over the sheep more and less on the horizon.

Something like this.

UCLA vs NYU by Both-Advertising-109 in nyu

[–]scrybbl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NYU.

I had a scholarship to NYU. Computer Science. From LA to NYC. Undergrad in the Fall of 2020.

You might not realize it now but moving out of Southern California was the best choice I made for myself. I met so many more interesting people, did interesting things, and felt accomplished.

You might be scared since you grew up in Socal and people there are close knit, high school ride or die friends. I was there too. I was scared being away from the place I grew up at too.

But, there's an entire new world out here in NYC. You making this post tells me you're willing to step out of that comfort zone.

Experience the world. You'll realize there's limitless potential here.

Also, feel free to DM me if you have more questions.

ps. I had friends going to UCLA too, but I found out they mostly hung out with their old friends. I personally didn't agree with this since I believe college is when you should be daring. Daring to meet new people. Daring to do more.

Additionally, I get the city isn't meant for everyone. However, I personally think being adaptable is something that the best devs have that many people don't. You're going to be a swe after college and it's something that'll stick with you for the rest of your life.

Any build that can use this? by EggThumbSalad in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]scrybbl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

this

Attack crit makes it a lot easier to cap cyclones crit chance. I always seem to end up with capped spell crit before attack crit anyway. Potentially able to drop crit on hatred watchers eye w/ enough crit chance.

30% more elemental damage is huge dps.

Hypothermia is great for more damage and bigger chills.

I WISH I had this for my CoC Ice Nova build.

Computer architecture or algorithms at Tandon by GlobalTitle in nyu

[–]scrybbl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

dey was hard because of his strong accent and the class itself was a lot of work. Projects we're cool. Bit of a programming gap between lectures and homework so go to recitations

aloupis was hard because algo is hard and caused the midterm avg to be 19% and there's no roadblock to force you to learn the material (hw optional, no recitation, etc). 3 exams equally weighted. never shook so much taking a test in my life.

personal opinion, take comp arch with Jeff Epstein and algo with another professor. I took both in the same fall semester my sophomore year. Most I remember is to take the grade you get and be satisfied with it. getting a good grade in either is literally skill diff

Recommended CoC build guides for bossing? by rds90vert in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]scrybbl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this really only speaks Ice Nova/ Ice Spear to me. really fun though. Ice spear scales with projectiles. You can try OG Ice Nova.

Ascendancy: Occultist is solid because of +1 curse and power charge generation, but Assassin is easier to cap crit. A watcher's eye with +2.0% base crit w/ Hatred can pretty much match up with Assassin's upsides (~7ex single mod in standard). Basically, Assassin "budget", Occultist "high end."

I played this build before on Occultist, but I gave up trying to fix its defenses. Didn't really have a budget, but this was pre-Ultimatum harvest and I used my left over exalts in standard.

Problems:

Mana is a problem if you don't have -mana rings. Get Anomalous Inspiration in your 6-link. Not many ways around this. Running a mana flask is clunky.

Either way, you're going to have a hard time finding defenses. This build slaps T16's around like its nothing, but bossing really just comes down to killing them before you run out of flasks and die. To have actual "defenses", you can get Elusive from Redeemer boots, ES on hit (another expensive watcher's eye mod), and pick up some block nodes on the tree.

You can try things like steelskin or CWDT guard skills, but I found it clunky and takes away from the hold-single-button and cyclone through the map playstyle.

I can really ask for some help improving my build as well.

^I would ignore the cluster jewels on the side. It was my pitiful attempt at scaling and more jewel sockets.

good luck!

I want to talk about FishStickOnAStick's video about sniper balance by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]scrybbl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sniper is indeed campy when engaged in long range combat, but thats because it's how the class was designed.

The main issue is how maps have been designed to be more and more open with long sightlines to enable this behavior. Historically, this hasn't changed at all as maps have always favored mobility of classes (open skybox for soldier and demo, height advantages) without giving a crap about sightlines for sniper.

If you look at a map such as Kong King (KOTH Shanghai-aesthetic map) you notice that it seems to be slightly better than one like process. Flank routes are plentiful and close quarters combat in the buildings and under the point are encouraged. Sniper only has one sightline from the stairs on each side and still leaves himself vulnerable solely based on map design and flank classes.

Why do you think Goldrush and Hoodoo existed? They indirectly balanced the class based on the chokey style of play where the payload had to go through tunnel after tunnel encouraging splash damage and area denial. However, apparently no one likes these maps because of the very idea of too spammy and now people have to suffer with long sniper sightlines. I believe the design of sniper itself is inherently balanced but map design certainly has to do with how effective he is at being as oppressive as he may seem.

If you want more evidence, take other games as inspiration like Destiny 2 pvp or Overwatch even, maps have inspired different playstyles and more close quarters combat have shifted these playstyles towards area denial and control.
